The movies...sure.Not really my favourite. But,yeah! The movie seems to be good. The rock has charisma and the whole thing doesn't seem preachy.

Jl in general has never been something i read.I did read justice league though precisely for black adam.he was cool. But,the team just ain't for me.I was bored. As said caped comics just doesn't grab me anymore..I am kinda at a point where i drop superman as well. But then something like superman and the authority happens.I say cool.As morrison just hooks me.
The team i have liked is the outlaws and red hood, jsa, black hawks..etc far superior to jl

The article does mention a new cover but they don't have an image, unfortunately. What grabbed my attention was the small sneak peek at the new costume coming in issue #2...

When you create stories, how much of it is being driven by the idea of making something that can be turned into a movie or series or video game?

Lee: I would say it falls into different categories. There is content we do in comics that is explicitly designed to be used in media. We hired a vp of editorial programming strategy, Jeffrey Kaufman, and he’s been integral in sitting between my creative affairs group and the publishing unit and helping us with the media aspirations that we have. And so you’re seeing a lot of content being created with that express purpose of being used in media productions.

Recent interview from THR with Lee and Cherry, can’t help thinking Jon is one of those series they’re talking about, which is why they’ve got Taylor (the current golden boy besides Tynion and Williamson) on SSOKE.

This makes me wonder if there's more in the Superman line that follows this philosophy (besides obviously Son of Kal-El). Is the Superman '78 book meant to work as source material for a Donner/Reeve Superman animated movie? I can see Superman & The Authority, Supergirl Woman of Tomorrow and even PKJ's Action Comics working as animated movies, but I'm not sure if I see DC wanting to make those movies (too different from Superman's pop culture image, S&TA and Action Comics touching on Superman in a political context which I don't see them touching after how BvS did).

There's no doubt in my mind.

Just look at how self contained and new reader friendly Taylor's going out of his way to make the book. Even with Damian's reoccurring role, it's more fan service than anything (especially when you remember issue 2 is actually issue 1). Taylor even specifically says that Jon will meet someone soon that he'll be able to confide in and talk to the way he does with Damian.

When moving this stuff to the screen it's more freeing and less of a logistical nightmare when they're not handcuffed to another IP for their major developments and support. Probably a fairly large reason why Super Sons deemphasized, and more of a bit of fan service/Easter egg.

The hopes of those who will follow. Those two sets of dreams weave together into a double helix, drilling a path towards tomorrow. THAT's Tengen Toppa! THAT'S Gurren Lagann! MY DRILL IS THE DRILL THAT CREATES THE HEAVENS!" - The Digger

We walk on the path to Secher Nbiw. Though hard fought, we walk the Golden Path.

I’ve been saying that Lee is likely going to make a push to get his Wildstorm toys adapted in outside media, and I’m hoping S&tA is one way he does that (if I continue to enjoy it).

The word “adaptability” has been used around this book a lot and this feels like validation of that. Really interested in seeing where this all ends up.

PKJ said that the October event would have worldbuilding as big as The Death of Superman (just how many times has that been adapted now?), so the October story would probably function as the franchise pivot where Jon is established as the Superman of Earth and Clark goes to space. The “Death and Succession of Superman” story, if you will, which would serve as the precursor to a “Jon as Superman” series. I can even envision something like that getting adapted as the series ending to the Superman and Lois show, however way they decide to do it with two sons, then they could spin-off Son of Kal-El from there.

The logo of the book itself looks like a Disney plus logo

The issue is that I actually think that Warner no longer has faith in the pop culture image of Superman

These comics feel like attempts to lay the foundation for a “post-mythology” reboot of Superman where his most iconic adventures have already occurred and now this is an experienced Superman raising a family.

    Like Superman and Lois

    Mark my words

The next “classic” Superman movie will be a rebirth adaptation that has a lot of references to the Donner movies(hence the publishing of Superman 78)

Well the public domain is approaching for most golden age characters and versions. May as well create more derivatives to own fully.

Not surprised at all really, I mean come on you’re telling me that a big business like dc comics that deals in all kinds of media wouldn’t create stories just to have media out there and be influences for other types of properties.

I mean let’s just wait and see how long until there is a Jon Kent as Superman animated movie or something to that effect (and don’t tell me it can’t happen, we’ve already had Damian in movies after all).

I’ve also been thinking that deadline plays a role in why they’re pushing new characters in the mantles so hard. Why the hell would you make another Batman otherwise? Bruce is as popular as he’s ever been.

    That deadline doesn’t mean anything
Mickey Mouse is up first and they won’t allow him to be taken
