Well Bendix did what we think we all expected him to do, surprised that Lex wasn’t more annoyed with what happened though.

And I guess we now know what Jon’s current status quo is:

    spoilers:
He’s hiding out because he feels bad for the deaths that Bendix is blaming him for so he’s going underground with Jay and the Truth. By day he’s Jon Kent Superman but at night he’s masked reporter for the Truth.
    end of spoilers

Jon being a reporter even a vigilante one is so bland but that fits the tone, ya know despite the development in today's issue I still find his relationship with Jay very lackluster like IDK what it is he really likes about him.

I think it’s because Jay is someone who not only cares about Jon’s well being and reached out to him but also is someone that Jon doesn’t have to worry about safety wise. Jay isn’t some helpless victim to get kidnapped and hurt, kind of like Lois initially, because Jay has superpowers, allies, and a few skills from his time with the truth.

So Jon maybe feels in good standing in a relationship with someone like that, someone who can take care of themself while he’s away being Superman and also cares enough to check in on Jon and his well being.

As a previous mention before Jon doesn't have many friends, since Jon and Jay met Jay have had Jon's back looking out for him, being someone to talk to and giving him advice.

Teenagers have liked each other for a whole lot less.

This issue for me have been the strongest so far, while Bendix plan is a bit predictable and I can see how this could easily backfire for him, I like that he seems like he will not just be a problem for Jon but for the larger DCU. The chemistry between Jon and Jay was also better this issue. Tormey's art also elevated the story.

I mean that's how Taylor advertises it & I see that even in today's issue but still it's just like very quick everything with them seems quick & for the sake of it even their "friendship" IDK for his 1st real relationship I guess I just expect more.... "Fireworks" (I don't count the 1 kiss Blonde Wonder)

I do agree the art raised the series up 10 fold mass improvement. As for Jay yeah kids have liked eachother for less but I'm starting to feel his character is gonna be very 1d & not nearly as interesting as theorized on this board & the chemistry is just kinda meh their no Wiccan & Hulking that's for sure.

I am interested in where the Rising plot line is going, I like the idea of a super team that is an evolution of the Suicide Squad.

Yeah I’m not happy about this. Taylor’s gone the exact route I feared he would, now Jon is a reporter. I was hoping they’d go in a different direction from his dad, continuing with what making him bi started, but sadly it seems they can’t help casting him in a similar mold. They keep doing this with all the Superfamily and it’s such a boring choice creatively. Guess I just have to hope it doesn’t last forever.

Edit: I did just realize it’s a continuation of folding Pre-Crisis ideas back into Jon. Now he’s got the Pre-Crisis set up with regards to his identity: Superman/Jon Kent is the “real” ID and whatever masked ID he creates for the Truth will be his “disguise” (I hope it isn’t mild mannered). I can appreciate that, it’s an inversion of how people see Clark’s identity divide these days which is cool. Depends on how Taylor handles it and I still would prefer he not be a journalist.

So did anyone else think in that scene with Lex he was mad with Bendix? Lex is hard to read and sometimes he treats Metropolis as his city and might be a little annoyed at all the destruction Bendix caused in “his city”.

I’m expecting there to be a rift between the two at some point. Both need to be the “top dog” and only one of them can be.

He's still in college it's not too late for him to change majors. Honestly, they should've made Jon a teacher considering how empathetic he is but that would've been unrealistic with his exposed identity.

Lex probably just lost a lot of real estate property.

Is he? I think he’s out of college now given his second attempt at a secret identity got exposed lol. Really depends on what he’s doing for the Truth, if he’s writing articles then I’m going to hope that doesn’t last.

I hope there's a plotline that forces him out of journalism lol. Like people suggesting there's a conflict of interest in him reporting his own actions. It's harsh but anything to avoid Jon turning into a cheap Clark rip-off.

I think this can also be interesting depending on how Taylor executes it, in a mask free of the burden of the public eye the legacy of Superman and Lois Lane who does Jon become.

Lex certainly has his own agenda and will betray Bendix the moment he is no longer useful.

I kind of fell off this book when I heard they were going to throw Wildstorm stuff into it, so I missed the Jon "coming out" stuff and weirdly, also didn't see it in my hyper comic nerd fairly liberal arts feed, so I have a question!

Jon Kent comes out of the closet. His mother is the world's greatest investigative journalist and his father has x-ray vision, super-hearing and his greatest super-power is empathy and understanding. Did they just say "DUH" or rather was there ever a need for him to be closeted in the first place? I'm curious how it was handled.
