I never thought this would happen but I did like the 1st one so I'm all for it.

Didn't this...not do well? Or was that just critically?
Is it the Keanu Reeves factor?
Well add that to the list of **** I never thought would happen. I didn't hate the first but I for sure didn't think it was good.
I've never seen the first film. I just remember seeing trailers for it and thinking it looked really different from the historical legend of the same name.
I actually thought the first was pretty good...but how do you do a sequel?
from the first one i remember being bored + seppuku
but i'll take a second serving
Well...all died at the end except that one kid, since the emperor felt some sort of way about cutting off one of the ronin's bloodline. Guess the kid grows up and finds 46 other ronin?
That would be my question I mean a movie where the entire cast bar one dies sort of illiminates the prospect of a sequel. In other movies with the main cast has died in large numbers at least some or more to point the main character survived. like the magnificent 7 Chris was still alive to recruit and lead a new magnificent 7. The son who survived 47 Ronin wouldn't have the respect to lead another such ensemble.
Wow we really doing this huh...
Specifically the 1 minute 10 second mark.
So no, they didn't all die. Again, he could find 46 other Ronin. But sure, they all died. Carry on.
The movie was full of magic they can just bring them back that way.
But for what reason?
I mean, I get this was a much more stylized and fictional version of the 47 Ronin legend so there's some leeway here, but to make a sequel and bring them back would be like doing a fictionalized retelling of the American Revolution...and then doing American Revolution II: The Return of George Washington. Could you tell a story where George Washington is brought back from the dead to combat a new threat to democracy? Sure...but why?
