So we're exactly one month away from all three L&O shows' season premiere. Feels weird we're already on season 3 of OC but here we are.

As was reported in the TV/Film thread by Deathstroke, Kelli Giddish is leaving after 12 Seasons, and in the middle of the season, too. Looks like Molly Burnett will fill the void as the new detective Grace Muncy.

And of course on Original Flavor 2.0 Mehcad Brooks is joining the cast as the detective replacing Det. Bernard (Anthony Anderson).

OC is getting new detectives, too, played by Rick Gonzalez (CW's Arrow) and Brent Antonello.

Hm. OC actually has quite a few detectives already, but, ok.

Apparently it is now being reported that Kelli Giddish leaving the show was not her, or the new showrunner's, decision. Which means it is less her leaving than she's been fired. Article Link.

Meanwhile Variety (and a few other news sites) are saying it also had to do with salary negotiations. IMO, this new showrunner David Graziano either lowballed her or denied her an incremental pay increase. One of those "I won't fire you, but I'll make it so it won't be worth your time financially to stay."

heh Shaw (Brooks) is basically Carisi in reverse. Last time that happened was L&O:LA with Alfred Molina's character.

    Loving it so far.

I missed the first hour because of work, but pretty much enjoyed the rest of the "event".

But this is how they're going to get rid of Rollins? Really?

Ok, love the 3 hour movie format. No title card, just the cast list each hour to let you know which series it is.

    Spoilers:

    spoilers:

*Amanda got shot! The beginning of the end of Rollins's time on this show. The showrunner promised she'd get "a happy ending." Hope so.
*Pretty sure we'll somehow see Sirenko again. I like that they got a villain that could connect all three shows and it make sense.
*Elliot kinda annoyed me here, in the end. EADAs follow orders, what was Price supposed to do? If he says no he gets fired and McCoy puts someone in place who will follow orders. Its too late in the game for Elliot not to get that, but then again I see it as a side effect of having a future of any sort in police after all the crap he's pulled. He thinks "I broke the rules and am still here, so anyone can do it. They just don't want to cause they're bought and paid for unlike me." Yeah his self-righteousness is getting old, too.
*I like Shaw. They didn't explain what happened to Bernard, but in the context of the show Shaw was on loan from another precinct just for this case. Next week, which will be a proper ep, will probably address what became of Benard as well as Shaw transferring to the 27th permanently.
    end of spoilers

SVU was ok. I felt the episode start fine but ran out of steam half way through. spoilers:
Found it a little unbelievable that anyone would even entertain the idea of letting the rapists go in order to catch the M-13 gang after having a press conference making a big deal out of catching them.I know they didn't end up doing it, but I bet this was a late script change,
    end of spoilers

OC was much better at doing the same thing, i.e. introducing new characters and setting things up for the new season. Calling it now...spoilers:
Half way through the season Young Casino Guy's wife is going to betray him to the cops
    end of spoilers

Also, can someone enlighten me about New York housing laws? spoilers:
I'm assuming at some point Casino Guy bought the building the old dude who was killed lived in. Couldn't they have legally evicted him? I'm not 100% sure on how rent control in NY works...
    end of spoilers

Probably just to set up this season's SVU villain. Well that captain, too, since they'll never pull the trigger on McGrath (I don't think). That gang leader that rogue captain was trying to get, and said rogue captain himself, will probably be recurring.

I doubt it. OC's thing seems to be evil couples. I think she'll basically be the devil on his shoulder pushing him to do ruthless stuff like kill his father.

Not liking Brent Antonello's character. He's not a 1:1 Stabler junior, but close enough to the point Bell says he reminds her of Stabler. I don't feel the show needs that. Rick Gonzalez's character, though, has potential.

I wonder if we're going to get another backdoor pilot. Last year it seemed like they were setting up LAO:Hate Crimes. This year it could be LAO:Gang Squad or something.

But we had two seasons of evil couples. This would be the year to switch it up a bit.

The new guy...yeah, even on the show Stabler says "I wanted another old head..." which I as a viewer would have liked and would make sense considering the cases they take. But I'm sure the producers were like we need a younger male in here. Sabler/Meloni is what? 60? We can't believably have him doing all the action scenes.

I think, as long as he pays rent, the have no case to evict. They tried to buy him out. But he wouldn't go. It might go differently in the real world. There are no casinos in Manhattan. Only ones around the city are part of race tracks.
There came a time when the Old Gods died! The Brave died with the Cunning! The Noble perished locked in battle with unleashed Evil! It was the last day for them! An ancient era was passing in fiery holocaust!

Yeah, I know things are different state to state. I recently was dealing with family members in another part of the country and was like, "You're only one day late with the rent, are you sure he can throw your stuff out?" They were like, "They couldn't do that back in so-and-so, but they can do it here!"

But yeah...watching the show I was thinking there must have been a legal way for them to get rid of dude ( or even a shady non-lethal one). But of course, if he didn't die there wouldn't have been plot to involve the police, so...

Most likely, on a project this big, eminent domain would be invoked.

In theory she could talk him into killing his father, and then kill HIM. As the wife she'd inherit everything.

I think eminent domain has to be city project related, like an overpass or a new highway or some such. Even though the casino will bring in revenue for the city it is still a privately-owned business. Hence why they (evil couple) were stuck. All they could do was bribe people to leave, and it worked except for that one man, so they had to have him killed in that...creative way.

EDIT: To put it another way, eminent domain can only come from the government itself, not a private business. Even if the private business will ultimately help the government (revenue, jobs). In fact, if it comes from the government, they can lowball you and you'd have no choice but to take it. That couple said they offered him enough money to make him rich and he still said no (I'd have took it lol)

SVU: They are doing Rollins dirty!

OC: Tight episode. I enjoyed the hunt for the killer. And the seeds are set for the Casino wife betrayal/takeover!
