Nightwing #80 Preview

Great issue. I enjoy how Taylor pulls in some continuity about Dick’s past with the BPD and how easily Dick and Babs handle and take down the investigators. Taylor really taps into how well these two know one another and can effortlessly swing into action, literally or figuratively, to support and back up one another. These two should especially be on that level given all their time hanging with and dealing with the Bat, before the Batfamily expanded. (I’d actually love to see Dick and Babs take a bunch of the other Batfamily under their capes more as a contrast to Batman.) Dick and Babs having this relationship and possible romance is much more interesting than the forced interest that occurred between Babs and Jason in The Three Jokers. I just don’t see Babs going for Jason.

The banter was good amongst the “family.” I’d love to see more family members, especially the newer ones, exposed to it and their reactions from these two legends being human.

To me, this issue hinted at a perspective of Dick being the true head of the Batfamily. Bruce was the founding father, but is a bit more like the slightly mad uncle now.
