It is kind of a "chicken or the egg" kinda conundrum, because we can never the what an exec is truly thinking; however, regardless of the thinking it did happen and the floodgates have been opened.

Comic writers from the beginning have been getting screwed all the way back to the King (Kirby), but the comic side of the business for the big two have always been a mess with royalties and giving due credit.

One can hope that with the success of the MCU and to a lesser extent the DCEU that the creators get more; but corps have those lawyers on retainer for a reason.

That's why I really admire Millar taking all of his toys and keeping tight control of it with Millarworld.

The monopoly issue is probably the biggest problem with modern day IP laws, but Hollywood and the rest have been in a tailspin for a while.

Maybe there will be more indie stuff being created but who knows

"Love" encompasses many different things. "Love" for a corporation is different than "love" to an animal or "love" to another human being.

Don't worry. Brubaker and Remender are still getting screwed.

I am a fan of the original Disney company, back when Walt was still alive and I collect the cartoons and comics of that era. I didn't like the idea of Disney buying Marvel, but so far it seems to have worked out pretty well for fans of the Marvel characters.

Disney has not been the best to creators in general, but they haven't been the worst either. They have been very good at keeping the characters in the public eye, which probably keeps the comics shops in business.
