A random ticket drawing can’t be voluntary too?

And it started out as Apocalypse being the “judge” (which has since evolved since he’s no longer available). Which is my question: why did it have to start out this way? Oh…because…y’know. ::wink::

And didn’t Storm have some reservations when Callisto first asked her?

And what would have happened if Callisto had won? Does Callisto not get her powers back? Storm obviously would be resurrected. Is Callisto screwed if she wins? Or does she get a beat down so she can die and be rezzed anyway?

Or…was the point for Callisto to die anyway so she could get her powers? If it’s suicide, and she needs/wants to die, is Storm really even at risk?

All the Crucible does is ingrain hostility and callousness in what could be a peaceful and morally advanced culture.
If you die in service of Krakoa, then you are brought back immediately. We already know thats the case as we saw in HOX and numerous times since then. The resurrection protocols were supposed to be defined in X-Factor, but they never got around to that. A random former mutant that kills themself away from Krakoa isnt likely to be resurrected right away

It HAD to be violence with an audience? A brutal bashing of a helpless person?
No it didnt have to be but thats what they decided to go with. The Crucible participant isnt helpless. They have complete agency and have the choice to stop at any time during the Crucible or not even particpate to begin with

"Don't kill yourself so that Apocalypse can hack you to pieces" doesn't appear like a great deterrent for suicide to me.
Agreed with this. But.... The abuse and torture is rigth in Krakoa WTF.... X_x

Ah. So a public brutal bashing is cool ‘cause it has a safe word.

Pretty much. It would be far more problematic if their idea of making more mutants was to go around the globe kidnapping the Scarlet Witch's victims and forcing them into the arena

Just because a thing could be more problematic doesn’t mean a thing isn’t already problematic.

This debate brings back memories of the Feb. 2020, 117 page behemoth thread when the crucible debuted. Surely one of the most contentious topics of all time. (I miss Vegan Daddy)

I don't consider it problematic because it is voluntary no one is forced to go through with it if they want to. People who died are being brought back to life slowly. If you go through the Crucible it speeds up the process. So if you have such a morale problem with it just wait until the millions are brought back a head of you.

Obviously those who are serving Krakoa like X force or X Factor get special treatment which is why Omegas and those connected have died multiple times skipp the line. However if you are just mr average mutant just enjoying paradise you have to wait.

And what’s implied by my response is: why bring that up?

And my point all along: to speed up the process of getting one’s powers, they have to participate in a public suicide-by-combat...and that’s rather silly (edging on disturbing).

Like. How do you look at the person in the eye who says “You can go get your powers back, but you have to get your ass beat in a publicly displayed suicide. Oh, but there’s a ”safe word”?

Yeah you don't just get to skip a queue of millions for free.

You gotta earn that **** either in service of Krakoa or in the Crucible.
    The Krakoans are EEEvil!

    THEY MUST BE STOPPED!

A raffle is an easy solution. For for all, without then public execution.

Also, essentially there’s 3 classes of mutants now:

    1. Those that never lost their powers.

    2. Those that did, and now have to commit a public suicide to “earn” (lol, nobody “earned” their powers to begin with) their powers back.

    3. Those born after M-Day.

I’m thinking one class of mutant has a right to feel like their being treated as inferior.
