Superman question

Hi everybody,

I would like to ask you all a question:

I want to read the classic/most important stories (golden, silver, bronze, etc) prior to Crisis on Infinite Earths of Superman. I've found the books Superman: Celebration of 75 years and the Action Comics: 80 years of Superman deluxe quite interesting. They seem to have different stories in it and the "75 years" is more expensive than the 80 years here in Canada. For those of you who know better, what are the differences between them and which one would you recommend? Or is there any other book you think is worth reading?

I'm not sure if I want to read the Golden Age Omnibuses at the moment. Right now, I'm looking for a good collection of important stories from Superman (and other heroes later), so I can have a good understanding about these heroes.

To finish it off: Are these 75/80 years books of the others DC heroes good too?
