The First Avenger could be categorized as historical adventure or as war movie.

    GOTG as space opera.

Also Captain Marvel is partly a buddy comedy.
Tolstoy will live forever. Some people do. But that's not enough. It's not the length of a life that matters, just the depth of it. The chances we take. The paths we choose. How we go on when our hearts break. Hearts always break and so we bend with our hearts. And we sway. But in the end what matters is that we loved... and lived.

Except for 3 Captain America, 2 Thor, 4 Avengers, 1 Captain Marvel, 1 Doctor Strange, 1 Incredible Hulk, and 2 Spider-Man movies, being generous.

    This was posted before.
    Mark Hughes quote-
Just generally speaking, keep in mind some of the all-time best action movies were also filled with humor and comedy -- Die Hard, Lethal Weapon, Mr. & Mrs. Smith, and Beverly Hills Cop for example. And think about some of the other great action films that also have a constant good sense of humor -- Raiders of the Lost Ark, Indiana Jones and the Last Crusade, Lock Stock & Two Smoking Barrels, The Rock, and so on. These films don't just have one or two humorous lines, they have repeated funny moments and humor throughout, and as much or in some cases more than the MCU movies.

Granted, a few MCU movies like Ant-Man, Guardians of the Galaxy, and Thor: Ragnarok have enough constant humor to possibly say they could be considered action-comedies, but the rest of the MCU films aren't. If some folks just personally don't enjoy comedy or humor very much and only usually like straight-up serious action, that's obviously totally fine and valid for people to have personal preferences and taste. But I think it's worth trying to be more precise about how much humor really exists in MCU films, since it's often overstated or people end up with a misperception sometimes of the overall MCU tone, and to also remember some of the all-time best and other great action films outside of the superhero genre often have a lot of humor and comedy in them too.

I think you're giving a few of those movies way too much credit actually - particularly the Avengers (the first two), Captain Marvel, and the MCU Spider-Man movies. Those are Snarky Action Comedies for sure.

Ding ding ding! In many ways "superhero film" has become it's own genre. So I'd say they all fall into 'superhero film' which nestles under action/adventure as a sub-category.

We are Fredrick the Great. We are Rustin. We are Addams. We are Marsha! Marsha Marsha Marsha! We so generous, we DeGeneres. We are Ziggy Stardust hooked to the silver screen. Controversially we are Malcolm X. We are Plato. We are Aristotle. We are RuPaul, god dammit! And yes, we are Woolf."

    Not really no.
They all have levity, but most really can't be counted as comedies

I am sure this topic already has a thread, didn't you make one before? All their movies post Phase 1 are basically the same at least in film making concept. MCU movies are mostly action-comedies empowered by a very big Disney cooperate movie formula where the main goal is to sell toys and open theme parks such as Disney land campus. Have you seen the recent news that Disney wants people to buy a full on Iron Man suit worth 8000 dollars. This is the main goal of why MCU movies exists for Disney.

Disneyland's Avengers Campus Is Selling an $8,000 USD 1:1-Scale Iron Man Mark III Statue

Also the recent Loki reviews mentions the signature action-comedy formula of MCU . these movies make money, they keep their fans happy. that is just the story. Zack Snyder said it best.

''Marvel is doing something else. They're doing, at the highest level, this popular action-comedy with a heart. And they have that nailed. An effort to duplicate that is insanity because they're so good at it."

This is what a formulae day in the life of MCU movies are. it's not everyone's cup of tea, but they are indeed good at what they do and it works for them.

Great understanding of fundamentals of movie making. That's the MCU formula.

Pretty sure I didn't, but if people are still putting out this kind of nonsense then the thread still needs to be made.
