Just as Morrison ignored Hal forging his own ring, they'll likely ignore Morrison's upgrade. We already saw in "FS:GL" that Hal's ring was affected and on its last legs as he flew to Oa. This is why I'm never a fan of writers trying to make this or that lantern "special" in some way - nobody ever really picks up on it and it's a pain to have to explain all the time why Hal's ring is different than Jessica's, who's special ring is different than Jo's special ring, and John's "ring tattoo" etc...

I guess it's because there are so many Earth Green Lantern,
Hal's ring is forged by himself and connected to Cosmic Grail.
Jess had a ring with Omega Effect but later got a new ring?
John had a ring tattoo during Snyder's JL run, was it explained?
Simon had like Emerald Vision or something during Humphries run?
Yeah, I guess it's hard to keep track of everything.

Loved this issue! I was a bit worried for Simon after reading this honestly, but he does appears in the solicitation for issue 4 so there may still be hope for him.

I will say that I LOVE that they finally explained why there are so many Earth Lanterns. I'd also like to know why they're all Americans (and most with military backgrounds)

Thought as much; I figured that part of the comment really didn't feel accurate. Wasn't sure about Guy, since he's probably the human Lantern I know the least about, but I figured that even with him making it 3, that still leaves 7 other human Green Lanterns who aren't connected to the military and/or don't have military backgrounds. (And in this count, I'm including Tai Pham, Keli Quintela, and Alan Scott.)

Jo actually was in the army, she joined the military instead of going to college and then once she was out of the military joined the police.

Well, since the first was an American, then maybe that's where the earliest conflicts happened, leaving behind a few dead alien GLs and the closest qualified humans were therefore also American?

Yeah, it's just an after thought, not that we need any more Earth GLs.
John and Guy started off as back up Lantern, both were American,
and Kyle was the last GL, who happens to also be American,
so it makes sense that everyone of them is American,
it's more like America is the Crux World that will become Fifth World, just kidding.

He was sent to guard that Crux world in Vega system and his ring lost power when battery went boom.

I recall flashbacks that showed Jo was both a Marine and a police officer.

All human GLs are American because a wizard cast a spell in 1938 that created a magical vortex of cosmic energies that increased Americans natural susceptibility to attract supernatural and extraterrestrial phenomenon while wearing their underwear on the outside of ridiculously tight clothing.

The issue was good, though I thought nuking OA was a little overkill and didn't need to be done, but maybe that's how there going to get the new character (teenager) aboard John's ship?

It seems like it's shaping up to be part Game of Thrones, part Sisko Star Trek with John patrolling the dark sectors, whereby magic could be thrown into the mix, I'm interested in seeing how the story develops.
