Default Would a person look so daft in a superhero outfit while fighting dangerous foes?

Would person look so daft in a superhero outfit (esp. in the real world) if one were to get wear this while defending against serial killers or fighting any other dangerous foes?

Most costumes would look daft wet, dry, wrinkled, or freshly pressed. At least, briefly.

If someone entered close combat in most superhero gear (Batman, especially), they'd quickly go from looking daft to looking dead.

So would it be better to wear something like protective clothing or an armored suit than to wear the daft superhero outfit during such fight?

Never mind how they look - think about how they'd work (or prevent the hero from working). Just ask Edna Mode about the capes. Nevertheless, isn't it now part of canon that the Superman costume was designed (by Martha Kent) to make people stare at it rather than at Clark's face, thereby helping preserve his secret identity? OK, maybe it's not part of canon now, but then, what is?

The material created by Richard Reeds (soft, very extensible, very resistant…) doesn’t exist in reality. And the costumes look shaped to match surreal perfect bodies…

The perfect costume in reality is probably as less fabric as possible…

The guy in that picture looks like a pro-wrestler.

El Santo was a pro-wrestler… and also a comic hero:

Depends on the outfit, but for most tactical purposes, I defer to Edna Mode.

Edna was a horrible costume designer.

Great movie star in fine Mexican cinema. Now that I think of it, every movie could benefit from a Masked Mexican wrestler in it. Call Tarrentino, I got an idea!

I believe Phoenix Jones was the only real costumed hero in the US that physically fought the bad guys and he looked pretty cool...until he was taken down for being one of the bad guys.

Look? Heck no. Most are considered fashionable these days. Anything a superhero does is just daft, regardless of look.
