That was one of things that Marston never did refine or clarify. In early stories, Hippolyte's strength and that of her people were attributed to a magic girdle. Then their strength was attributed to Amazon training and regular mortal women are shown instantly achieving superstrength.

This one of the areas the TV show slightly improves upon the design. In that verse, all Amazons are uber. However no thank you to the notion that they are only uber if they remain on Paradise Island.

...and that Wonder Woman needed her own belt of strength to maintain her strength off of Paradise Island.

Didn't one run basically try to say that most of the amazons are in some way children of the gods? IIRC Hippolyta is a daughter of Ares, and some of the others are children of Hercules?

They kind of are since they only live again because of the Goddesses but that sounds like it would likely be Legend of WW?

WW bad performances against shazam in post crisis are also another evidence of how much DC ''respects'' her

I think many writers either don't know that Wonder Woman is stronger than Hercules. You would be surprised at how little some do research.

Also, some might have grown up under the delusion that Wonder Woman was strong, but not "all that strong". Then they continue it when they write a story.

HOPEFULLY, Diana will be seen as the Super Heroine #1 and that she is the Princess of Power.

Let's not just blame the writers, but also blame the incompetent editors that should know better. Poor research into the character should not be used as an excuse if you have editors that are supposed to know the character inside and out.

An editor should know that if the story that is being written is something at Spidey level street level proportions that it is just wrong for the character and the story itself. Too bad that DC has not given a damn about this in a very long time.

Interesting that editors at DC ''respect'' WW so much. That they never try to assist writers when they portray her power badly.

And let's not forget that many writers will give us lipservice about how she is super powerful, and then write her as the complete opposite when they have the chance.

Yep, both of your points have merit.

Also, look at how many just on this board think WW is below the top 10 in strength. That thought also is in the minds of (some) at DC.

Thing is that today's writers and editors are yesterday's comic book fans who most likely grew up worshipping Batman and Superman and dreaming of one day writing or editing their stories. These dudes most likely always saw WW as "that sexy member of the Trinity who is not as smart as Batman or as strong as Superman but is nevertheless an integral part of the Trinity" and never went deeper than that in their research, and I am sure that they simply continued believing all the skin-deep misconceptions about the character. Rarely do we see women or men who are true-blue WW fans become high-ranking figures at the DC Comics (the company) power hierarchy, do we? That is what sucks. In an ideal world, power levels and abilities of DC heroes would be consistent and adhered to all across the board, but this is not an ideal world.

Then how come some of those writers and editors treat the likes of shazam and mary marvel with higher respect in terms of power level? How come those 2 characters far less known and iconic don't suffer as much as WW in this regard?

Oh I mean just generally, whenever anyone mentions the "top 10" of strength, speed or whatever, Wonder Woman is usually not thought as being in it, although she definitely should be! I see them listing the Super Family, the Martian Family and the Marvel Family among others being included, but Diana is usually not there.
