Default Golden Age The Dummy (foe of The Vigilante) Appreciation 2021

First appearance = Leading Comics #1 (Winter 1941):

Vigilante (Greg Sanders) first fought the Dummy in the first adventure of the Seven Soldiers of Victory (a.k.a. "The Law's Legionnaires").

The Dummy returned several more times to tangle with the Vigilante in his feature in Action Comics starting in issue #58 (cover-dated March 1943).

A great, and innovative villain. Personally, I think Wagner, Grant and Breyfogle did the notion best...

...but it was a really cool idea, and I love that it originated outside DC's Epic 7.

But that's "Scarface", not "The Dummy".
And Scarface is a carved "dummy", not a flesh-and-blood person.

I get it. I was speaking of the whole "artiface as a menace" thing, regardless of whether as a mystically animated object or as a maniacs proxy/prop. The fact that I prefer the latter in no way diminishes the importance of the previous, or my enjoyment of The Dummy.

    Thank you, MajorHoy.

    Good villains need appreciation too.
