Assassinate Putin!
i mean, Johns mentioned a bunch of event sounding things in Doomsday Clock, and while the DCU is hardly beholden to what is basically a self-contained limited series, it shouldn't surprise anyone that they're working on big event comics for the future. At this point, the word Crisis just indicates to me DC wants whatever event it may be to sell.
I mean, maybe if it means they finally pick a continuity and stick with it, and then lay off the crises for a while...
...oh, who am I kidding?
I'm in wait and see mode. Crisis is a big buzzword for DC and not one that necessarily means the whole "Rewriting the Universe! Everything you thought you knew was wrong!" side of things. Could just be big giant cosmic shenanigans without redoing the entire timeline.
It's Bleeding Cool. I'll wait until we get something more concrete.
That's what it's about for DC, but not the fans. Isn't the reason it makes money the idea that "this story explains things and resets the universe so you need to pick this up to see it happen and understand what is happening going forward in this shared universe?" It's the carrot at the end of the stick. I don't think it's the quality of the stories or that it's going to be a great spotlight for their fav character. (other than the trinity) Any other linewide crossover they can think of simply won't have the repercussions of a Crisis. Like how weddings and baby births were always big episodes for sitcoms that traditionally always returned to the status quo after 22 minutes - this story actually changes things!
It seems weird to have one so soon, but we do have a new editor in chief. Maybe this is her chance to shape the DCU to what she wants, instead of currently Didio's leftovers after future state.

Secret Crisis Wars!
Assassinate Putin!
What we would even do if we didn't get a new story about continuity every year. I guess someone went mad after remembering his entire history and now wants to destroy the omniverse?
