Default Abandoned Superhero Movies That You Wish Got Made

Today marks the ten year anniversary of when the cancelled Spider-Man 4 was supposed to come out! This is actually pretty insignificant thing to point out since the movie never ended up happening. However, it did make me ponder about the superhero movies that were close to happening but for whatever reason it never ultimately happened. What are the superhero movies or comic book movies in development that got cancelled that you wish you could bring back to life.

For me, one is George Miller’s Justice League film. Which, of course, looking back in retrospect there was a bullet dodged given that the Batman legacy would had a alleged rapist playing the role(for those not in the know, I’m talking about Armie Hammer) but I’m still so curious to see what could’ve been:

    How about you guys?

Definitely would've been interested in Terry Gilliam's Watchmen

As much of a mess as the Amazing Spider-Man film series ended up being, I'd have liked ASM3 for the sake of at least giving some closure on Peter's story there, and seeing Oscorp brought down (and to justice) after both movies set it (or its executive board) up as the ultimate mastermind behind so much of the misery and death that led Peter to become Spider-Man.
The spider is always on the hunt.

Dredd 2. Apparently, the movie was going to introduce Judge Death and the rest of the Dark Judges.
I'm gutted that it never came to be.

I think the "what could have beens" I miss the most are the X-23 solo movie from the Fox X-Men movie series and the MCU Runaways film that got scrapped (before the TV show).
Doctor Strange: "You are the right person to replace Logan."
X-23: "I know there are people who disapprove... Guys on the Internet mainly."

Don't think it ever got past the script phase but that Green Arrow Supermax movie. Where it was basically the Raid with Green Arrow. Or put Batman in there instead. Amazing fight scenes with a simple plot in the vain of The Raid or John Wick.

The Superman Lives project with Tim Burton and Nicholas Cage sounded very very interesting.

Far more than the Superman Returns than we eventually got.

This and Afleck's solo Batman but I probably wouldn't like a Batman movie this dark or think Deathstroke is a cool character.

My list felt very past. I would like to think there is a future with Affleck's Batman too.

John Singleton was attached to a Luke Cage movie at one point with Tyrese or Jaime Foxx rumored for the title role. I would have been interested to see how that turned out.

Guillermo del Toro pitched a Hulk TV show to ABC in 2012 around the time the first Avengers movie hit theaters. It didn't get picked up. It would have interesting given it's Del Toro and the show wasn't gotta be MCU.

Has Channing Tatum Gambit movie been canned? If so then bullet dodged.

I'm still occasionally curious how the 70's set Daredevil film Fox was toying with before they lost the license might have been like and if they would have done a better job than the first time with Affleck. Not complaining that we got Charlie Cox's take instead though.

Would still love to see the Batman vs Deathstroke project realized on HBO.

I never knew he was going to do an X-Men movie. I could have sworn Cameron was attached to Spider-Man at one point, but pulled out (I think to do Titanic), and that the one holdover from his script was that Peter had organic webshooters.

I'm pretty sure that they adapted that story for the first part of Season 7 on Arrow. Wasn't Berlanti and/or Guggenheim the ones that wrote the Supermax script?

EVERYTHING Fox greenlit has been canned by Disney, but that Gambit movie was in trouble even before that. As I recall, it kept getting pushed back, and I think Tatum ended up dropping out of it.

I remember being so excited for this movie. And watching that video, GOD I wish we had gotten it. Though I find it hilarious that once again, a movie has Batman killing.
