Even continued into Rucka's run, which is where I first noticed it since I read that run first. Though the bow-and-arrow made think it was Artemis at first.

And Fury was there for some reason also.
Of all things, the part where Magala was killed happened in a two stint between Byrne and Eric Lukes runs by Cristopher Priest where she died, but then came back to life the same issue, with some handwave about Magala being a sorceress herself.

I confess it was a bit of a shame. I didn't like alot of what Byrne did in his run, but Magala was honestly a fascinating character. I think shes the only straight up sorceress we have ever gotten out of the Amazons who even got a name.

Yeah, Fury...I still need to read Young All-Stars where this 'retconned into continuity' version of Fury was introduced as the mother of Lyta Trevor. I appreciate Jiminez making an effort to build up the Wonder Woman family, though I know very little about the take so I couldn't appreciate that bit in his run as much as id have liked.

I understand that Fury couldn't be Diana and Steve's daughter in the Post Crisis timeline but I wish they managed to integrate her more into the WW mythos. After all, Karen Berger was both the editor on Sandman and on the Wonder Woman books for a time. The Bat Books managed to incorporate Helena Bertinelli into their books as well. Maybe Lyta could have been the daughter of another Amazon.

which painting is that? I suppose it depicts the legend of Athena and Poseidon fighting for the honor to become the patron of a new city... which later is called Athens :-)
