Sharp pointed that out awhile ago, yes.

It should be noted that version of Gandalf was weaker than the version that told Aragon, Gimli, and Legolas (the Dwarf and Elf guy, like what?) they couldn't hurt him.
Yeah, but if you... man, we're getting into weird analogy territory, like if you disintegrated Superman's arms he wouldn't be able to go "fool! Little did you know that my arms and I are one and can be remade from me!" and will his arms back into being from pure nothingness. - Pendaran

I just wonder if Dumbledore can muster that much power.

I don't know what's more tempting: The One Ring or these extensive insights into Tolkien lore that I could read for hours.

It's too bad Gorthaur and Estrecca aren't around a lot any more. Gorthaur was like...Second Age Lore out the yin-yang, and Estrecca was basically the font of all knowledge Tolkien around here.

Siriel used to be cursed good at showing up with obscure facts from the Letters; I swear he had those memorized.

Edit: Jackalope89 seems to have quite the knowledge-base.

    Why are we here?

"Superboy Prime (the yelling guy if he needs clarification)..." - Postmania
"...dropping an orca whale made of fire on your enemies is a pretty strong opening move." - Nik
"Why throw punches when you can be making everyone around you sterile mutant corpses?" - Pendaran, regarding Dr. Fate

Not as much as others, I fully admit. I'm a book reader that has delved into the deeper lore a little.
