My Adventures With Superman Animated Series Heading to Adult Swim

I mean, hey, great to have a confirmed premier date and to know where it's airing even if Adult Swim is unexpected.

I'm curious if that's going to alter the content at all or if it'll still feel like an all ages cartoon, but it was unconventional enough from the typical CN show that they felt like they could just put it in AS.

I made the same mistake, I don’t think MAWS is debuting on May 1st, that’s just when Adult Swim is going to start rolling out shows. I’ve been wondering if maybe the show changed in the time since that initial pitch, and that’s why it’s taken so long? But it could just be that WB is trying to revitalize the Adult Swim brand with new animated shows, and MAWS fits their plans since it’s a Superman cartoon which WB is gearing up to start pushing again as part of the lead up to Legacy.

Would love a Superman cartoon that has the freedom to get darker and more serious. I know this was pitched as an “action-comedy” but even those can get dark sometimes (like Adventure Time). Something like the tone of the old DCAU STAS show would be perfect.

Wild finding out from twitter that the show I'm currently running is gonna be on Toonami... but also WE'RE GONNA BE ON TOONAMI

So many of the people who made and are making this show grew up on Dragonball, Sailor Moon, Tenchi, Gundam, Naruto, and the rest of the Toonami lineup; it's so special that we'll get to be a part of that legacy with the work that shaped us.

It's surreal that I'm in the same position as a bunch of creators working on a show I want to watch because those are literally all the shows I grew up watching .

I'm glad I got to watch Star Trek: Lower Decks to get a full appreciation of Jack Quaid playing Superman.

Between Scream, Lower Decks and The Boys, Jack Quaid has proven himself to be an extremely versatile actor. Really looking forward to seeing what he will bring to Superman/Clark.

I'm hoping he can play the character well and does a decent job distinguishing Clark and Superman (which to me is a hallmark of any real Superman performance).

In reality, this is probably better to have it air on adult swim. We saw how badly CN treats most of their shows that aren’t teen titans go, the show would have just got a early weekend morning time slot and would be forgotten. At least it’ll have a better chance on adult swim and it’ll be streaming on hbo max the next day anyways.

Yeah this is pretty reassuring honestly. I never had much faith in CN handling these shows right, we know for a fact how bad they treat their shows before especially prior DC cartoons.

At least it means CN won't cancel it after screwing it over with a bad schedule slot.

And I think they're associating with Toonami? Which means a lot because it's where people usually expect action cartoons on cable these days.

Also to clarify: the show is still the same fun YA/family tone it's always been. We just get to be part of this very cool programming block (and achieve our teenage TOONAMI dreams with our anime-influenced series!)

just asking to make sure it will be on hbo max right? there is some confusion about this.

Plan right now as I understand it is that it will debut on Adult Swim, then show up on Toonami and HBO Max following that (this is normal for a lot of AS shows)
