Agreed, her being a main villain instead of a hench person or fodder like in previous films (Batman Unlimited, Death in the Family) is rather reassuring.

Also a bit premature calling her a "cute anime cat girl waifu" and "a bit of a step back" just from the design we've seen so far - we all know that's just her more human crime queenpin form and when fight time comes she'll transform into a more bestial combat form.

She looks feline-ish already, but that's probably the pointy ears.
In that case, I'll reserve judgment until we see her full form.

I wouldn't be surprised if she has some sort second "monstrous" transformation that's closer to the Sharp Cheetah design.

Cheetah being the main villain in such a feature is at least an interesting change of pace and doesn't raise any immediate red flags yet.

But after Liam Sharp's uncanny valley/body horror take, cute anime cat girl waifu up there seems like a bit of a step back.

I'm hoping that she's going to turn into a more monstrous cheetah form later on. I think that's her human form, and they just gave her pointy ears and green eyes as a "clue". There is also an army of monsters later in the trailer so it looks like they will bring magic into it.

They also don't call her "Cheetah", but "Minerva". So maybe they are channeling some Perez and no one knows she's Cheetah yet? "Crime boss Minerva" also feels Perez-esk.

I like the idea, but I wish it was explored in the Wonder Woman mythos. It's the first time Cheetah will be a major villain in animation, and it's not even in a Wonder Woman movie.

That's what I'm thinking yeah. Her first form might be more feline than her normal comic book human form, but it's still not her superpowered cat monster girl form. Least that's my guess.

And i can't be happyy for Cheetah. Because given the context. She is probably going to be a jobber against catwoman. How the hell are they going to explain a battle between somebody powered up by a god and a woman in a cat suit?
