Creating diversions to isolate the queen didn't seem to be a problem -- two people on their own did it just fine, and the zombies weren't all that concerned with the bank heist anyway thanks to the trade of the rapey guard. Moreso, when the boss gets the call that the mission is proceeding as planned, he nods to two high ranking military personnel about it. Either the boss is working with the military or those two top brass are in on the scheme and are working with him on an unsanctioned mission, either way the boss has way more resources than a ragtag team of a handful of mercs.

And lastly, the boss's plan relies on too many variables, the two biggest ones being whether his one, single mole can outwit nearly a dozen other mercs, and whether or not one of those mercs can actually repair the escape copter.

Then again, it should be noted that this mission is what causes the worldwide outbreak ultimately, so no, there aren't really any strategic geniuses at work here. The zombies were already contained and the nuke would have done its job, but because of the mission, Vanerhofe was bitten, escaped, and will spread it to Mexico City.

And whoever decided to drop paratroopers onto a zombie horde really deserves a dishonorable discharge.

Haha WTF was the actual plan there?!? Just drop some guys into a ravenous zombie horde and hope for the best?

I'd mostly agree except assuming some of the previous teams did know the real objective and still failed, explains the lie. It's an easier pill to swallow telling ppl they're going for money instead of a live zombie head.

Being that the gov was gonna nuke the city anyway it had to be a shadow mission the owner set up. Pressed for time these dudes probably were his last option. That being said bad intel is a staple in these type of movies. Totally agree about the paratrooper thing

I am wondering why our resident Zack Snyder fan has not commented on this movie?
There came a time when the Old Gods died! The Brave died with the Cunning! The Noble perished locked in battle with unleashed Evil! It was the last day for them! An ancient era was passing in fiery holocaust!

    could be he's more anti-mcu than pro-snyder.

thank god snyder has the common sense to rein himself in or the movie would have went into bad taste terrority since his original intent was having rapey zombies on human females to product zombie babies and male zombie strippers with their bits hanging out.

Zack Snyder has been talking...strange lately.

He's been talking about making an historical epic and/or a porno. Or a combination of both.

Maybe he wants to remake "Caligula" or something. The Tinto Brass version that is.

Ha, part of me loved the scene because it is such a good visual on the stupidity people in Zombie movies have.XD

Sounds like Snyder and the way this so called fan of Female Empowerment sees Women in his movies.

I get more and more the feeling all this unquestioned praise the questionable part of his fans show him, gets to his head.

Decided to watch on a whim, and it's not impressed early on.

I do like that they had a guy smart enough to ditch the heist, though.

And Simon from Burn Notice, yay!

So, did Army of the Dead vindicate Snyder? Asking for a friend.

I'd say no. The usual cliches are present (Army=stupid, enough stupid to make a Trump convention look smart, etc)

    *Edit*

Also, why the hell didn't the guy bankrolling this just give the team the safe combo?

    Thumbs up

I thought the movie was awful; poorly paced, terrible acting, a cliched nonsensical script, and at times laughable CGI. Keep in mind, I'm a diehard horror fan and gorehound (I'm only disgusted by the hardest of hardcore gore think the infamous Hostel series or the "shudder" HC series) -

I'll give it 1.5 out of 5 stars or subpar even by horror film standards. I doubt I'll ever want to watch it again.

Ya know, some minor alternations in the action scenes and plotting would have been enough to make this a decent movie.

Instead of the casino owner organizing it, just have some big wig criminal guy funding it. That would easily explain why they needed to waste the time with the defenses, and breaking the combination (I mean, the backer couldn't have just told them? Also, how do the employees get past those things?).

Chamber's death was especially stupid. They write her off as dead as she's still fighting, unbitten, and do jack all to help. Plus, you gotta wonder why she didn't yell that Martin was the one who screwed her over.

I guess without slow mo, Snyder has no idea how to pace a scene.

Just watched it. It was ok had some fun with it. But the story had too much stupid in it.. I don't know much about Nukes but why wasn't Van killed by the radiation? Him making it out of there was dumb and bothered me more when it was used for sequel set up. I liked his character but didn't enjoy that. Was curious where they were moving the Zombite to? I mean it was already in Area 51 why the hell would you move it anywhere else. Apparently there was robot zombie. I thought some just had blue eyes but seen an interview where Snyder said there was zombies that were robots and it would be explored in Lost Vegas...... ok..
I don't understand the bad guy constantly trying to screw everyone over and killing them. They're goals weren't in conflict and they're help would have been a benefit. And why did he even bother going donw into the vault area with them? If he really just wanted the head he should went straight to the roof shot the pilot and took the helicopter. Also no one helping why Chambers is alive and completely capable of being saved. Then her not yelling out that the bad guy killed her. My last words would have been making sure that guy got killed right there.

Anyway it was fun enough. I liked alot of the characters but they were all very one dimensional. Given the fact they all died except for that daughter who very much should have.. I'm fine with not really getting much story with any of these characters. Movie was already too long, so I'll take the fact it was fun as a win. This movie had some cool action, some weird things he did with camera aswell. That didn't bother me though. You wanna film the whole movie with a weird lens and have things out of focus? Go for it, led to some cool looking shots and also some wtf is going on one's. I don't mind that.

Nothing more of a red flag to me then when I see Story By Zach Snyder at the beginning of a film. Wish he would just direct. Alot of the stupid could have been cleared up with better writing.

Edit: Just saw besides the animated prequel they are doing a live action one. With Dieter leading a group of survivors. The guy who didn't know how to use a gun and screamed when he saw a zombie? That guy lead a group of survivors in Las Vegas?... weird choice.
