I won't ever read any more of this after the terrible second issue, so could you spoil it here?

I read the spoilers for last issue and it... is really weird? So this out of continuity book gives an explanation for what happened to Wildstorm's universe before New 52? Now, with this being out of continuity that explanation is obviously not valid either, but... why even go there then?

I don't get what DC and Seeley were trying to achieve with this book.

Absolutely 100% not canon. The fact that Krypton was depicted in their now defunct Byrne incarnations would be a pretty good indication that this was never intended to be in mainstream continuity. And the truly awful critical reception the series has received will almost guarantee that no one will ever refer to it ever again.
