Default DC's Very Best One And Done

DC's big sweeping arcs seem to get all the love, but there are some really great self-contained, one issue stories out there as well.

Let's take a moment to celebrate the best single issue DC ever put to page. No parts of a story need apply, nor do any collected arcs. What's the greatest self-contained one issue-tale DC ever told?

how can the likes of Crisis, Great Darkness, Judas Contract, Death Metal etc be considered as single issue storyline ? single issue ? single issue is like action comics 775 , superman vs the elite, that is a single issue.

It does all fit in one magazine sized issue...

In agreement with you about Swamp Thing, my choice would be...

    "The Anatomy Lesson"

The first line of the original post was a (clearly, failed) attempt at humor. I was saying those big sweeping arcs are not what this thread's about. I've edited it, and also specified that collected editions don't count. I'm talking about self-contained stories in a regular monthly issue.

I'm not sure what the O.P. is looking for in a done in one. To me the best stand alones are economical in their story telling and don't waste time or pages getting to the point. The shorter the better. So the obvious answer is "Who's Sorry Now?" in SUGAR & SPIKE No. 4 (October-November 1956). Six pages from Sheldon Mayer and it's pure gold.
