Default What is the Best Way to Read EC Comics In Their Original Form?

The coloring in the Dark Horse Archives is horrendous. Fantagraphics reprints certain stories in black and white which is much preferable, but these collections are compolations sorted by author and not as extensive as Dark Horse.

The Gemstone reprints or the Russ Cochran collections.

In the mid-to-late 90s Gemstone produced a number of facsimile type editions of just about every major EC title...

most can still be found on the cheap (though even this version of the infamous severed head cover to Crime Suspenstories can be pricey). Each issue reprints all the stories from that issue on newsprint even. Some of the trade dress is altered for marketing purposes and and the ads are modern not reproductions of the original issues.

The Russ Cochran collections are the standard by which all EC collections are measured. They can be pricey though as they are OOP. Especially if you get the slipcase editions.

Gemstone also did a series of annuals that were reprints of 5 issues at a time, squarebound like classic annuals of yore...

that are a nice middle ground between the single issue reprints and the big Cochran reprints.

No problem. If you order from mycomicshop, keep an eye out for their dollar sales, there's a handful of the Gemstone reprint issues that periodically pop up in their offerings. I've been picking up these Gemstone editions when I see them in the wild for a couple of years now. They are starting to get harder to find on the cheap, but then back issue prices for everything have gone crazy over the last year.
