Default Hellions #12, Party Foul, Recap and Review, Spoilers

    - Sinister, Havok, and Psylocke are about to leave for the Gala, the rest of the team is not invited, because of all the murders. Kwannon leaves a thirsty Greycrow in charge.
    - While the others are sparring, Greycrow is drinking and decides they should crash the Gala. Team Good Choices.
    - At the Gala Sinister is throwing shade at Cap and Stark, Kwannon and Betsy have a polite drive by, and Alex is hassling Xavier about Maddie. Xavier points out to Alex that the uninvited Hellions have arrived. Alex pointedly does not say hi, rude boy.
    - Nightcrawler is getting tipsy.
    - While attempting to brag to Black Panther and Thor (who don’t even seem to know who he is), Sinister is interrupted by Nanny who loudly points out his kidnapping, abuse, and murder of children.
    - Greycrow finds Kwannon at the bar, Quentin tries to kick him out, Kwannon vouches for him and adds a dash of blackmail for seasoning.
    - Orphanmaker begs Empath for a drink, Empath refuses, saying he doesn’t want Nanny carving off his face.
    - Wildchild runs into his ex, Aurora. It is awkward, Aurora is not into it.
    - In the data page, the Cuckoos are keeping telepathic tabs on the proceeding should an incident occur, and they give a quick, snarky rundown of the history between Wildchild and Aurora.
    - Alex has moved on to hassling Magneto about Maddie. Lorna intervenes and walks Alex away.
    - Back at the bar, Greycrow and Kwannon are chatting and flirting when Wildchild walks up angry and rejected.
    - Sinister attempts to talk to Franklin Richards, Reed quickly shuts that down in a rare moment of good parenting. Then Exodus finds Sinister, Essex greets him with snark, but Bennet just wants to deliver a drunk Nanny.
    - At the bar, Greycrow encourages Wildchild to try again with Aurora, but is really just sending him away to get alone time with Kwannon. Orphanmaker is acting drunk, but Empath hasn’t given him a drink, he just used his powers to make him happier and less afraid. Again, Team Good Choices.
    - Lorna is comforting Alex when Orphanmaker interrupts. Alex is embarrassed by association (when really he should just be embarrassed by his own behavior).
    - Orphanmaker and Nanny are making a bit of a scene. Kurt is not helping.
    - Wildchild finds Aurora kissing Daken, he doesn’t take it well. Wildchild tries to attack Daken, Greycrow attempts to restrain Wildchild, and Orphanmaker dogpiles thinking it’s wrestle time.
    - Nanny sees it’s go time, smashes a glass, and attempts to shiv Sinister. Delightful.
    - Empath is confronted by Roulette and Catseye, who start to reenact the final scene in Death Proof with him.
    - With chaos erupting, Magneto steps in and magnetically grabs the Hellions. Magik opens a portal and Erik shoves them in.
    - In the second data page the Cuckoos give a snarky rundown of the Hellions fiasco.
    - The Hellions, minus Alex and Sinister, arrive back on Krakoa. Kwannon is talking to Northstar about a David needing help. Kwannon telepathically lets the team see the fireworks display from Krakoa, they have a kinda cute team bonding moment.
    - Meanwhile, the Sinister that was abducted by Tarn back in X of Swords is back on Krakoa. The next issue teaser reads “Return of the clone”.

This was a really fun issue with some good character moments. Nanny stole the show, but it was also nice seeing the developing relationship between Kwannon and Greycrow, and Alex being pathetic over Maddie. Wasn’t expecting a Wildchild and Aurora confrontation, that was neat, if a bit sad for Kyle. It was good to see Empath get a beatdown from Roulette and Catseye.

I am very curious which David Kwannon was talking about near the end there. Prodigy? Legion? … Hijack?

Anyway, this was my favorite issue of the week. Really fun.

This will probably wind up being as good as "The Hellfire Gala" gets.

The Gala just started and these panels alone will be hard to top.

The party doesn’t start until Nanny walks into the room. What an icon. Also excellent characterization from Kwannon as always and guests Lorna and Aurora.

We should be so lucky. This issue was really really good. Also. Was that Zeb Wells himself greeting Dani? I appreciate he gave two moments to two of his obviously favourite new mutants.

Fun issue indeed. There's a writer making the best out of a mandatory crossover issue. The Hellions basicly go Delta Tau Chi on the whole gala, with some nice mix of the characters having progressed a bit or reminders about their pasts.

Nanny really was a highlight. Greycrow playing wingman to Wildchild was weirdly heartwarming. It's also interesting to see how Wildchild's "dream/nightmare" from the Arcade story plays out at the gala here, when Daken got into the mix.

Overall one gets the impression the team sans Havok are getting a lot more comfortable around each other, which would definetly be a good thing when the rematch with Tarn and his crew come.

Well, Hellions is kinda the story of how Psylocke made the team hers and kicked Sinister ass. Or, you know, it will be. A bit like how New Mutants under Wells was basically the story of how Yana got her soul back (fooling everyone and risking reality in the process)

Consistently entertaining, often genuinely funny, with great character advancement and a light touch with the big moments. Gotta love Hellions.

Yes, Greycrow's hair is that cool.

I'm curious is Segovia taking artistic liberty or has Aurora ever been rendered with elf ears? That was strange to me, never seen her having a look like that.Hepzibah sure, but Aurora?

A drunken Nanny one-shot needs to happen. Excellent issue and I was glad to see Kyle wasn't coming for Greycrow like some of us suspected from the preview. On the contrary they really seem to be growing on each other.
Though she was surprised, it was cool to see Kwannon was fine with the Hellions crashing the party. I love how Wells writes her.
