Epic Collections in Relation to Onslaught Saga?

I know the Marvel Epic Collections are basically just collecting the volume 1’s of their respective titles and most of those end with Onslaught but I’m now just trying to figure out if I should buy those 3 X-Men/Avengers Onslaught trades that cover the entire story or if it will be covered in basically the end volume of every Epic Collection book I’m getting?

I don’t know if the Epic collections will go that far up to Onslaught of the 1990’s, but if they do continue, it could take decades. Better to get the Onslaught trades, now, or it could be a long wait.
