The only upside of this is now at least Comicsgate d bags won’t get to scrutinize the box office and say things like “see no one wants a woke brown skinned superhero!”.

Maybe if it performs well on streaming they’ll make a sequel and do a theatrical run.

Apparently Batgirl and Static are going straight to streaming too. Those are pretty well known characters, so Jaime isn’t in too bad a situation.

Haha, don't kid yourself. Those anti-SJW losers will complain about this no matter what.

I wonder if all this is just what HBO thinks will be the future of movie watching

Cause you know what the world needs right now? Another superhero movie starring a straight white male character.

Think of the oppressed White men!

Seriously though, they could both appear.

They were intended for theatrical release and also got dual releases. That same day plan has lost WB a ton of money according to insiders and the growth for HBO Max has been slow. People subscribe for shows not movies

Agree. Especially since movie theaters are pretty much back to normal in most parts of the USA. No need to pull a Wonder Woman 1984.

So because Ted Kord is white in the comics he doesn't get a movie? Ya whatever....

Not according to Bob Wilson. He said MK did better than expected and served as a gateway to the service other content

The movies is the reason to have Max not the shows.

In theater/box office circles streaming movies to ones home for a fee had been dismissed for years. When Covid-19 hit and there were no butts in seats suddenly streaming became that "little engine that could".
Apple and Amazon snatched up previously slated theatrical films to stream online. HBO released Wonder Woman '84 in a dual format. Disney+ experimented with an upcharge on your existing account for instant access. All of which had various degrees of success.

Theatrical quality films as a stream only is not the same as a Hallmark TV movie....not anymore. Time to adjust ones thinking.

See, that argument can be made both ways.

No, he doesn't get a movie because on his own he's kind of generic.

Agreed. I can only see Ted working in a mentor role or in a buddy cop context. He's not compelling on his own
