The director, Angel Manuel Soto, clarified Blue Beetles place in the new DCU:

"We are part of the universe, we are part of the world, we are part of the plans that they have been creating for the future instalments of the DCU," Soto confirms in the new issue of Total Film magazine, which is out on newsstands on Thursday, June 22.

"But we are not tied to all the films from the past. Yes, our movie lives in the world where superheroes exist. But that doesn't mean that a certain event, or certain alliance, or certain things from the past dictate where our film is going."

Ha, my point is whether the comic fans will make it a blockbuster. Flash has much more presence than BB and it's movie isn't roaring to success. I hope it turns it around and does.

While I love both of these film series I think Ant-Man was carried by the MCU Brand and Blade benefited by being more seen as a Vampire film seriously in 98 most didn't know he was a Marvel Character I only knew because of the 90's Spider-Man animated series.

Look at the film The Mask (1994) and the TMNT Brand from the 1987 animated series onward you don't need to be known to be a big hit.

I actually think being a lesser-known DC character might help Blue Beetle to distance itself from the shitshow WB has created with the brand in the last few years.

A few obscure/unknown characters like Blade have had successful movies. But not all the obscure/unknown characters have successful movies. Howard the Duck. Jonah Hex. Steel (played by Shaq O'Neal in 1997 film). The Spirit. The Phantom. The Shadow.

Some YouTube videos show that a lot of people are predicting that Blue Beetle will bomb at the box office. They even predict that the film will earn less than $20 million on the opening weekend.

The budget is $120 million. That is quite much lower than Flash. Maybe the Warner Bros won't lose much money, if it flopped.

The actors' strike isn't doing it any favors unless people will have forgotten it in August.
