Daken's phermones only work in close proximity. Johnny had a warm phone call with Daken basically saying he'd missed him and cared about him, showing his feelings were real.
Also, Daken's phermones stimulate attraction, but it's not mind control. People still have complete autonomy with what they do with that attraction.

And I don't think Sins Past has been retconned.

It was a terrible story (I don't think JMS is totally absolved of blame. They had a problem with the kids belonging to Peter, I don't think they needed it to be Osborn), but the question is whether or not the decision is still part of canon.
