Default Manga Reprints As Large as American Comics

    Dark Horse's Helsing hardcovers
    Dark Horse's Berserk hardcovers
    Kodansha's Akira
    Kodansha's Battle Angel Alita hardcovers
    Kodansha's Blame
    Early Viz Comics

I've read tens of thousands of American and European comics in my life, but I've hardly touched the surface of manga. However, one of the biggest turn offs for me is the compact size of manga volumes. The format makes most manga affordable but makes it more difficult for me to immerse myself in the story.

What are some larger than average English reprints of manga?

The 3-1 for the Big 3 Shonen( One Piece, Naruto, Bleach) are pretty big.

Fullmetal alchemist has new 3-1s and perfect editions.

The 3-1’s are the same size as standard manga but with a lot more pages.

The Viz Bigs are about the same size as TPB’s and the Viz Signature books are a little larger than standard manga as well.

Large in terms of dimension not page count.

they're going to be reprinting 'Blade of the Immortal' in a larger hardbound volume (just like they did for 'Beserk'). it's basically a superhero-samurai story with a lot of weird stuff and anachronisms in it... but it's pretty fun.

Blade of the Immortal Deluxe Volume 1 Hardcover – Illustrated, October 27, 2020
    Hardcover ‏ : ‎ 576 pages
    Dimensions ‏ : ‎ 7.2 x 1.69 x 10.3 inches
    ISBN-10 ‏ : ‎ 1506720994
    ISBN-13 ‏ : ‎ 978-1506720999

I liked this serious quite a bit. I started collecting it in the smaller Darkhorse trades, and then started buying it month-to-month until I couldn't afford it anymore... eventually I got the entire series after getting the larger omnibus trades.

it's got a distinctly 'European' style for a samurai manga... which might be because Samura actually got some formal training in art. for people that are turned off by the more traditional Big Eyes, Small Mouth style it's a nice change of pace.

I also recommend getting Nausicaa. it's arguably one of the very best sci-fi fantasy works of the last 50 years.

Nausicaä of the Valley of the Wind Box Set Hardcover – Box set
    Hardcover ‏ : ‎ 1104 pages
    Dimensions ‏ : ‎ 10.13 x 3.9 x 7.13 inches
    ISBN-10 ‏ : ‎ 1421550644
    ISBN-13 ‏ : ‎ 978-1421550640
