Isn't that just basically any of the "Trial of..." stories?

Superheroes stand around while refugees are dying and getting shot.
Villains: You can't do nothing cause if you do then war will happen.
Superheroes stand around more. "we have to do something, but we can't."
Villains: Ok, you all can pay us, and we will help.
Refugees pay villains to protect them, villains do.
    Villains: You superheroes are lame.

That was like 2 or 3 issues there.
I think restorative nostalgia is the number one issue with comic book fans.
A fine distinction between two types of Nostalgia:

Reflective Nostalgia allows us to savor our memories but accepts that they are in the past
Restorative Nostalgia pushes back against the here and now, keeping us stuck trying to relive our glory days.

    I guess so.

That doesn't sound great. Still, I think it could go deeper than that. In real life, people don't necessarily give up just because situations are difficult.

Because the heroes surrender, usually, and try to defeat the charges.

Taking on corrupt pols is more Clark Kent's job as a journalist.

I always thought journalism is a job one could incorporate into being a superhero

Perhaps, but more often Clark Kent will write stories about the adventures of Superman.

Honestly, it seems like most writers need to go back to school and learn about how to make some damn foils.

Most villains these days feel like junk thrown against a wall. It it sticks, it sticks!

Geoff Johns uses way too much ultra violence, but his JSA and Flash were excellent for having villains that actually served as foils to flesh out the heroes, to add something to the story.

I'd still say they use a good mix.

To each their own. It felt more like a poor man's Batman, as it went on

People say that about comics GA, so I'm not sure how much I really care about that criticism.
