I've not read Empyre and apparently missed any news that Ka-Zar had died. Marvel didn't make an issue of it apparently. At least not with promotion like the upcoming Death of Dr. Strange anyway.
Is a Ka-Zar with powers....still Ka-Zar? Reminds me of Punisher vol.2(late 90s) when he was "killed" in the electric chair but brought back instantly and in doing so had these "angelic spirit weapons" he could conjur in the form he chose, he chose traditional looking guns of course. Frank Castle with powers isn't really.....Frank Castle.
Sooooo, is Ka-Zar with powers still really Kevin Plunder????

I'm not wild about the art, a bit to on the pastel side but I don't outright hate it. Will wait for trade especially since I've not read Empyre and may not for a while. My backlog with 2 kids keeps getting worse for my "trade waits". It is all I can do to read the 8-12 monthly books I limit myself to.

Agreed. It just isn't Ka-Zar, if there's no sign of Zabu!

I really enjoyed this 90's series (despite the writer being problematic) and I think its proof that 90's comics can be good.

    And it co-starred Shanna majorly.

I never read that series but at 21 issues it is the right size for an Omni.

This was often Ka-Zar at its peak, for me.

That or at least a Trade and I think Waid himself maybe even popular enough to warrant one.

Indeed and they bill Javier Garron as the next generation of "Elite Artists", they are that proud of him.
I don't think this is the best representation of his work. Some of his panel action art is pretty good. I like it better than the much loved Ramos.

    Oh no, robo-dinos!
Ka-Zar has a dino skin loin cloth, which is a nice departure from the standard boring brown animal skin version. He looks a little more "savage" in that cover art, which is nice for a change.

Based on his Conan and also The Goddamned over at Image, I'm pretty sure Jason Aaron could write a solid brutal Ka-Zar book.

(And let's please forget his weak appearance in Avengers a while back.)
