But in all seriousness Magneto being a anti-hero / grey character is nothing new it's literally been the role he's played for decades. And he's nowhere near as bad as DOOM who Dick had no problem shaking hands with earlier without it escalating into a brawl.

From the context I got the vibe he was sick of dealing with villains and Magneto was the straw that broke the camel's back

That being said, does the punch come immediately after Nova doesn't want to shake his hand? Considering this is just a preview, Magneto might just end up saying something terrible preceding it. Doesn't excuse the punch necessarily, but the issue isn't even out yet.

Considering how the Gala issues did a bit of time skipping, Is it possible the punch part comes after whatever Magneto does/is blamed for that kicks off the Trial?

I think he killed some humans of Mars.Maybe it's a frame but it surely does have something have to do with Mars.

It seems the Mars display hasn't happened yet when they meet here so probably not.

TheDeadSpace is right, we don't know what triggers the punch although "you're going down, Magneto" seems like a setup for a punch. We shall see.

In the preview he says the Gala is tomorrow, so this is definitely pre-Gala
