Granted that nothing cancelled for John is so utterly drastic (outside presumably future appearances on the show itself and the Big Finish Jack and Ten story many were excited for) but I just don't like the apparent shifting of blame by the initial party to someone, whilst not guiltless and who should have shown greater tact back in the day, did own up and is as I can gather a more mature person these days.

I do get the impression this is a Gunn situation in the sense that he'll be allowed back eventually once the hue and cry is down, though.

He hasn't, but it seems like the press has spent more time focused on John's mishaps than his. It might of course just be what I read at the time this was all happening.

Here it the thing guys. Everyone here is debating a bunch of accusations. This is all crazy. When a public figure gets accused of something especially in this industry its not easy to defend yourself. It just isn't. I don't know how many of you guys have been accused of stuff that you didn't do but you are not public figures. Its hard enough to defend your self as just Joe blow. If you are a public figure its 10,000 times worse. I can tell you I worked 22 years as a cop. You have people who lie and report you or other officers to IA all the time. And you also have legit complaints. But even as a cop and a confidential complaint is filed its not easy to just defend a he said/ they said thing. Now everything is under micro scope and things that are not criminal can be interpreted by different sides differently. And thats they case in this industry as well. I don't know anything about Josh Wheadon maybe he is an a hole. But no criminal charges have ever been filed. So if he did do something, that everyone seems to think is so horrible it boils down to him being an a-hole. Lots of them out there. If you have a job you might know few. The thing is they don't make the news its all handled internally. If Carpenter and others were treated bad I'm sorry. But like I said Hollywood isn't that big. If Wheadon was so bad it didn't stop other actors hoping for a job on one of his shows. I don't know it all seems stupid to me. A lot of these people are products of their time to. Ahh well nuff said.

Well... I cannot say I am not glad that the moderators chose to delete some posts here that were upsetting to read even if it meant my response to those upsetting post also got deleted.

I thought Gunn just said something stupid on social media years back ? Gunn was not ever accused on any physical improper behaviour?

Yeah, it was pretty ugly reading.

And yeah, I'm pretty sure all I read about Gunn was that he posted some racially insensitive "jokes" on Twitter like almost a decade ago. Which, while definitely not cool isn't anywhere near as bad as actual sexual harassment or assault.

But as many here have pointed out, a lot of accusations, whether they're against famous or non-famous people, are true, yet get ignored or denounced. That's why people got fed up and began demanding more action.

I didn't know he said anything racial. I thought he just made somewhat tasteless jokes

Yeah, I had remembered it wrong I just looked it up. Nothing racial but a lot of kind of kiddie porn type "jokes". They're definitely off color and probably wouldn't fly in today's climate but they really weren't that much edgier than what you would have seen on South Park back in the 2000's which is why the reaction always felt over board to me and definitely why Gunn doesn't belong in a conversation like this as it's completely different.

For a lot of people who work in the industry this kind of stuff doesn't matter. They will easily look past how much of a piece of **** someone is if they can get something out of them. That's the entertainment industry as a whole. Look at how many artists chose to work with R. Kelly after him pissing on teenage girls was proven true.

A lot of the times, many artists just ignore what may be an obvious and just focus on the legal proceedings. As R Kelly said...he beat his case. once the court clears them, other artist don't care anymore and will continue to work with that artist.

Woody Allen is almost the same, the court cleared him of any abuse, this is also why he continued to work for a long time until Dylan started speaking out more, getting documentaries and also her mother, Mia now releasing tapes of a young Dylan speaking of the abuse.

So a lot of the times, it is all about circumstances changing.

So you are going with it should be allowed to slide because it's just understood that it's terrible...and that it shouldn't matter and shouldn't change?

I just don't get that point of view.

Yeah, he's not really in the same boat as these other guys.
