If you ask me, no. Explore the idea of more non-supers.
It’s funny. During Bendis’s run, I thought he created Naomi to become the new Supergirl.
But she turned out to be her own franchise character.
Now, in PKJ run, we might get a new Supergirl.
Coming back to this thread. And I still wonder will DC make Kara Superwoman in 2022?
Everything points to that as of now. I'm starting to believe Thao-La may very well be the next Supergirl... but her lack of interaction with Kara still bugs me, if the intention is for her to be the successor to that mantle.
Are you sure? To me, it seems like Thao-La is the same age as Kara.

She might be the same age but experience will set them apart.
The King book claims to be character defining for Kara (and in continuity, right?), so the setup is there for her to emerge as Superwoman at the end of it. I do think Thao-La is the more likely Supergirl than Ruthye. I see Ruthye as more self-contained within that story, or if she goes on to other things it will be as her own new thing.
“Look, you can’t put the Superman #77s with the #200s. They haven’t even discovered Red Kryptonite yet. And you can’t put the #98s with the #300s, Lori Lemaris hasn’t even been introduced.” — Sam
“Where the hell are you from? Krypton?” — Edgar Frog
Kara’s lack of interaction with most DC characters has been a defining feature in the post Flashpoint New52-verse. When King says DC doesn’t know what to do with her my first thought is “friends, acquaintances, supporting characters, and a ongoing life and place to exist that last longer than the current writer would be a good start.”
If they ever do a replacement Supergirl, I would want to see them take risks with either a non-El character or a non-Kryptonian one or both.
Also why the hell did Tom King make Kara a heavy drinker?
