Default DC Comics app is being discontinued

I just received an e-mail from Comixology informing that the DC Comics app is being closed in late July.
Does this mean DC is going to offer a way to get their new releases on the DCU Infinite app?
To me it never made much sense that DC had 2 apps, so this could be a good way to consolidate them and take Comixology out of the picture at the same time.
    Thoughts?

DC should probably get the DCU infinite app available everywhere worldwide before considering cutting comixology out of the picture.

This was originally announced a few months ago, I think in January. In my opinion the most likely scenario is DC Universe remaining an a la carte with a delay and comixology is for purchases, with all the downsizing DC has gone through I don't think they'll bring it in house.

I totally agree. It's terrible how Marvel Unlimited has been around for ages internationally and DCU Infinite still can't be accessed outside the US

The comics I've purchased through the DC Comics app can't be read on the DCU Infinite app without a subscription, right? So I'll have to switch to the Comixology app. Not a huge deal, but I will miss the ability to make purchases inside the app with Apple Pay.

There's no excuse, it should've been rolled out globally six months ago. There was an excuse when it had the shows and movies, for rights reasons, but now they've moved to HBO Max, that isn't an issue any more.

So I'm confused, does this mean I can still buy my dc comics on the comixology website and read them there?

Man, this was my preferred way of reading comics. Maybe its in my head, but I preferred its interface to Comixology, plus I had some old purchases on iTunes that aren't synched up.

It's the Dynamic Duo! Batman and Robin!... and Red Robin and Red Hood and Nightwing and Batwoman and Batgirl and Orphan and Spoiler and Bluebird and Lark and Gotham Girl and Talon and Batwing and Huntress and Azreal and Flamebird and Batcow?

Since when could just anybody do what we trained to do? It makes it all dumb instead of special. Like it doesn't matter anymore.

Yes, the readDC.com website and DC Comics app was just a wrapper DC built on top of comixology.

That is correct. Further, there some titles DC doesn't put on DCU Infinite, like the Vertigo lines or Astro City.
