and Carnage. and Juggernaut (sometimes anyway, sometimes it's just brown)

and on the hero side of things, there is Volstagg, and Hellstrom, and Dum Dum Dugan, and D-Man, and Hyperion.

I know some of those are not exactly household names, but...

I think a lot of it is that in early comics, black hair was by far the most common, because printing and colouring was... limited. An those colours have stuck. I mean, just think of how many characters have black hair, despite it not actually being a very common colour on caucasian men in real life. It was just the easiest thing to draw/colour.

Also redhead men, unlike redhead women, are not especially considered as sexy.
Artists rather go for the blond man.

Where do people get that idea in the first place?

It goes back to ancient times when people thought that the color of hair was a surefire indication of a person's nature, character and proclivities. Then and now, it's all nonsense.

What we can all agree on, though, is that true redheads are rarer than any other hair color. I recall reading somewhere that the gene responsible for red hair is actually a mutated gene -- so it's kind of fitting that there are so many in the Marvel Universe, what, with all of the other superpowered mutates running around.

Oh, well you'd think at least people would try to dispel these myths nowadays

Well Scott Lang is a redhead and look at him, two successful movies, a third on the horizon, a guest appearance in the third Captain America and had an important role in Avengers Endgame.

Tempted to make a gingers have no souls joke, but I’m sure several people in this thread already have. Too predictable.

Isn't Scott summers a red head too?

Daredevil is the best of them though.

Scott is canonically brunette like his father. I understand the confusion though, since his hair is always hidden under that head sock.

It is funny how some things take and others don't though. Consider The Sentry. He was only initially drawn with long hair (I am almost certain it was Frank Cho at the time during New Avengers) in order to make him easier to tell apart from an unmasked Steve Rogers.

If only human beings worked that way. Just the other day someone asked me what my Zodiac sign was, as if that was in any way germane to our conversation. No, some of this nonsense will be with us until humanity takes its last gasp. But at least we're no longer killing redheads under some twisted belief that they're witches, or -- like Hitler -- prohibiting them from reproducing so as to stamp out recessive genes of any kind in the gene pool.

Yup, it's true. Paul Rudd goes full on redhead...beneath the helmet. It's a little like how karate men only bleed on the inside according to Eddie Murphy.
