Sometimes spelled as "Yeg." A turn of the 20th century term for a burglar or bank-robber, usually with a connotation of violent propensities. Most of the early armed motor car bank-bandits (Bonnie Parker and Clyde Barrow, John Dillinger, Alvin Karpis, etc.) referred of themselves as Yeggs or Yeggmen. It was something of a cultural insider's term among them; Yeggs regarded people calling them gangsters as ignorant about their world and would even get offended by it. Originally Posted by j9ac9k
