He could play an old and bitter Superboy Prime in the DCEU

Then how does he explain his failed tv show? (I think it was called "Sheriff" or somesuch. I'd look it up, but I don't want to add to his internet trending) - that was garbage.

Somehow he's not embarrassed for RDJ or Henry Cavill and doesn't call them out for taking a paycheck. (he specifically calls out a woman for debasing herself for a paycheck - he might as well use the W word) I guess he doesn't want to work with academy award winners Chloé Zhao and Taika Waititi either. Guess he and Scarlett racking up awards for "Jojo Rabbit" isn't good enough for him either. :P

I thought Dorrf was good in True Detective S3. But who really cares what he thinks of marvel movies. and i don't think its impossible that he could end up being cast in one sooner or later, so his words may come back to (mildly) bite him someday.

I'm going to say something preachy here; why bother with his words? This feels like a reason to make fun of another person who voiced there "I don't wanna" thoughts, and pile up on that person with strong criticism they won't read.

Just ignore his words, don't make a fuss out of it, or use it as reason to make fun of his work with others on the internet.

Had not heard this (tend to avoid spoilers on movies/shows I might watch, guess that puts me in the minority). Glad to hear it. Would have preferred old man Snipes, but as a fallback option that's not bad.

On Black Widow, I'm sure it won't be a good movie but they're not meant to be good movies. They're meant to entertain a large enough group to make money for Disney. Hopefully have one or two decent fights scenes, probably twice as many quips as needed (thank you Guardians for the formula), and an opening for a sequel pending success. If this were a Daniel Day-Lewis or Gary Oldman (whatever you think of an anti-semitic Commissioner Gordon, he's a good actor) I could excuse it. But Dorff? As the President says, "C'mon man."
I'm sorry they're not meant to be good movies? There's some gems in the MCU, IM 1, Avengers 1 and Civil War

The way I look at things like this is I like Marvel Movies. I like most of the stuff I have seen Dorff in. He can have his opinion. I don't care.

Suppose then we're getting into what it means when you say "good". Good at what they're meant to be? Sure, when you follow the Guardians formula like Disney does with a little fighting, a little quipping, some music, and a bit of drama/sadness to balance it out you have a solid C- to C+ popcorn summer blockbuster type of movie. I'd put Iron Man at around that C+, though in hindsight that might be because it was establishing the MCU and gets some extra credit (and was followed by some truly horrendous sequels, always helps you stand out in the crowd). Civil War C. I remember almost nothing about the first Avengers movie other than the very silly Hulk/Loki smashing scene, which I may be alone in cringing at in the theaters (nothing wrong with that, different strokes).

I can't say a single Disney hero movie has made me feel anything, other than the occasional "Oh hey, that was cool", on an emotional level. Nothing I've seen in a Disney hero movie has made me stop and think, or surprised me (I might not be able to guess who might die in a given movie, but in something like Endgame deaths were inevitable). Nothing has stood out about any of them, again to me. The only difference to me between these franchises and the newest Transformers or Fast & Furious movies is I have some emotional connection to the comics from childhood. And that's not a bad thing, but I wouldn't rate them as "good" movies as in something I would buy or watch multiple times or recommend to a friend who wasn't interested in the Disney heroes. They're all pretty solid now that they're mostly following that Guardians formula, and they all do their job and check the right boxes. There's value to that. I just don't rate that very highly. Now, compared to how Disney handled the Star Wars franchise I should be counting my blessings.

Dorff claimed that he "hunts the good ****" and about wanting to work with the next Kubrick when the last relevant movie he was in came out over 20 years ago. If anything, this shows a huge lack of self awareness on his part.

I think he also turned down the Leonardo DiCaprio role in Titanic. A movie that was number one at the BO for 11 years.
I checked out Dorff’s IMDB page. He doing pretty good as an actor. I agree he should never question another actor’s choices. It’s okay to criticize the MCU, but he was out of line going after ScarJo.

As I said, special effects are negligible compared to these categories.

Oh and by the way Nolan did get a best director nomination for Dunkirk.
True. I mean a movie does not get best picture just because the VFX are good.

    Big surprise there^^

And regarding Stephen Dorff this video says all that matter

And he wants to find the next kid Kubrick because he doesn't want to be in an FX film.
Didn't Kubrick make a one of those? Hmmm?
Not to forget he is ignoring that she did make a lot of small movies. It is not like she is "only" doing the big ones for the paycheck.

I definitely agree with some who thinks Dorff seems to have a personal vendetta here by saying he is embarrassed for Scar JO.

Usually when anyone in the film industry criticises something (marvel movies) like Scorsese or Cameron, it is always more from a general artistic place. Dorff going as far to nit-pick Scar Jo herself is a little off and comes of more spiteful and personally offended than honestly caring about film quality.

    This exactly.

He can criticize the MCU as much as he wants, that's his opinion and he's entitled to it.

But it's wrong to belittle ScarJo. That was uncalled for.

I will say while I think his criticism of her choices is foolish (very few wouldn't choose to be in a Disney movie, if only for the benefits to their own career) she has never impressed me much as an actress. Like Natalie Portman, she seems sort of emotionless and bland. Why Kat Dennings stood out so much to me in the Thor movies, just having an ounce of personality and charisma bouncing around was a refreshing and welcome relief from the stone-faced bleh of Portman and Hemsworth. Give credit where it's due, Hemsworth nailed the Guardians formula in Ragnarok. So maybe not so much their acting as the fault of the people directing them, at least to some extent?

There was one movie where Scarjo's lack of emotion/personality worked very well, in "Under the Skin". Not sure if whoever cast the movie sees what I saw in her (or didn't see), but they and she nailed that one as well.
