Default What If, the events of X-Men Red #1 (2018) happened now ?.

In light of Marvels upcoming new What If TV series and Krakoas current International status, I was thinking how Cassandra Novas' actions featuring Jean Grey and the very public death of the United Kingdoms Ambassador at the United Nations Embassy in New York would impact present day Marvel Earth ?.
I am a Marvel fan preferably cosmic storylines, especially Thanos or Dark Phoenix related, when both the Avengers and the X-Men are involved count me in, loved the original Uncanny Avengers series.
Not a fan of any of the new characters.

This was a great X book series which was wrapped up before this current HOX/POX series.

    Agreed, I really enjoyed Red.
I have to think about this one but yeah the opening was chilling.

Jean comes back and then wants to build a mutant nation but the right way.
She talks to U.N. and such but gets framed from murder.
They go to Wakanda for refuge. They meet Gentle.
Get a message for Trinary who says she's in captivity because she hacked blah blah to give women more pay to equal wage gaps.
They go to India and free her.
They discover people are being affected with nanite sentinels.
    Some other stuff happens.
Then we get her going to Atlantis to get a base of operations. And a new cerebro called Sea-rebro IIRC.
Then it's revealed that Cassandra is behind this using forge.
They take out the sentinels by uploading internet hate into them.
She takes over Rachel.Jean turns herself for her but it's a trap.
All the Avengers and Atlantis's army show up wearing Magneto helmets.
It ends with a speech to the U.N.

The team Is Jean, Nightcrawler, Gentle ,Gabby ,Laura, etc.

The book was meh. It's plus was leading Jean in the spotlight.
The stuff with Trinary and "internet hate", my god some things need to be reigned in.

Also Storm had an amazing scene where she hit Genosha, which was taken over by Nova, with a tsunami/hurricane. Nova had taken over her mind, the Hulk's mind, and Rachel with nano sentinels. She was able to create false flags with them like the death of the ambassador on live television, framing Jean.

And this was my absolute favorite scene as they're about to go rescue Rachel.

Jean would have a better outfit.

But honestly I don't think X-men Red would be totally different in the Krakoan era.

    Thanks for the recap!

It does kind of work as a precursor to Krakoa a bit.

It had its flaws and I don’t think it was a book that everyone would enjoy, but I read the run recently and enjoyed it, and that particular iteration of Jean, very, very much.

I also enjoyed Red on the whole, when I finished all the way though (delayed by RL bull) I now agree that it got a bit boring in places.

    No problem.

In ways yes, to me it shows why Jean is so cool with Krakoa.

Yeah.We had some crazy feats from them all.
Gentle held a reactor together.Gambit blew a Fing helicarrier. And Trinary took out nano sentinels with "internet hate".

I liked the scene as well. The shoulder pad thing, kinda cringey but lines up with the characters.

Honestly Jean being the leader was cool af, wish they kept her the lead in X-men rn.Scott would be the stratagist.

Also it’s funny how Jean’s speech at the end about no more humans and mutants… just “us”… was completely obliterated by Xavier doing the Krakoa thing.
