Default What's your pitch for a Cheetah story/arc?

I'm curious to hear some actually interesting arc pitches using Cheetah.

Off the top of my head....
Well instead of something set in a proper canon id wanna do a story with the premise of Wonder Woman having been active since WW2 and tell a story wherin Diana confronts and battles different Cheetahs over the ages. Establishing connections between the differing versions and make it into a legacy that has persisted one after another.

Id also just rename the Barbara from Rebirth and make her the newest and latest individual with the mantle. Establishing that regardless of the time or place, there will always be a Cheetah in Wonder Womans life

    Cult of the Cheetah:

After a series of seemingly sporadic murders continue to sweep the globe, one hero notices a connection. Brutal maulings, maimed victims, it is a crime scene Wonder Woman is all too familiar with. The Cheetah is back.

But why is the Cheetah targeting these families? And why do the victims relatives seem unfazed by their recently departed’s death?

One thing is for sure, nothing says hidden from the Amazon Princess for long. But the clock is ticking, and the fastest foe on earth has a head start.

I’m not sure if this had been done but with Diana as basically a Demi-god now it would be cool to see Cheetah work her way into a different Pantheon of Gods, that way Diana can’t just immediately deal with her because attacking Cheetah would bring on the wrath of the other pantheon.

Diane meets a young mercenary/assassin who intends to accept a bounty on Cheetah from an unknown client so Diana tries to stop it but finds the real reason for the hiring. or tries to save a group of hunters from trying to hunt Cheetah.

Mafdet was a cheetah goddess in Egyptian myths of the First Dynasty (circa 3200 BCE).

I remember some people on here with the idea that the Cheetah's curse be moved from Urzkartaga to Mafdet and Sekmet as a price for Barbara desicrating a grave/tomb. At least it would tie the Cheetah curse to an area where cheetahs exist. Mafdet as a goddess of judgement and Sekmet as a war goddess.

Diana resolves the situation not with fighting but with a kiss, and maybe more than a kiss.

    (1) 'Curse of the Cheetah'

Sick of the curse that renders her bloodthirsty but still wanting power for herself, Barbara Minerva sets her sights on a new source of power; Vixen's animal totem and the Mithra Meteorite which grants Lion-Mane his powers. This brings her into conflict with not just WW, Vixen but also the dangerous African war lord Lion-Mane. Luckily for her, she has another ally to help her; another disgruntled archaeologist cursed by a magical artifact and whose name is Edward Dawson; aka the original Lion-Mane. Together, alongside Elephant Man and Gorilla Grodd, they form the new Menagerie to fight back against the heroes. But can these villains stand each other long enough to achieve a goal? Whose betraying who? Can WW and Vixen work together with the second Lion-Mane in their mutual goals?

    (2) 'Revenge of Cheetah'

[Ok, so this is set Pre Nu52. Post OYL. Imagine that WW continued in the same tone as Rucka's after it ended, Amazons Attack never happened, neither did the Heinberg Reboot. Assume that with Infinite Crisis restoring Diana as a founding member of the JL, 'Gods and Mortals' happened around the same period as Batman: Year One, Diana debuted when Dick was Robin and not Jason, Donna's original origin is restored and she was older when Diana rescued her, Volume 2 is now stretched out over a 15 year period and this story is about filling in the gaps that this change would create. Any inconsistency is waved away with Hypertime.]

The story opens with the reveal that the 'sexy' Cheetah in Rucka's first run and in the Final Crisis tie in wasn't Barbara Minverva but Deborah Domaine whom Barbara manipulated to fill in for her and whom she brainwashed to think was Barbara. Pricilla Rich isn't dead either as Barbara faked her death. We learn that Pricilla's Cheetah fur coat was a gift from Pricilla's grandfather and was stolen from the same village that Barbara got her powers from and that Pricilla's hallucinations were really the spirit of Urzkartaga manipulating her. Pricilla was jealous of Hippolyta during the Golden Age and tried to kill her but eventually she reformed and gave up the Cheetah skin. However, it's effects lingered most noticeably by slowing down her aging. Pricillia has full control of her Cheetah powers without succumbing to the desire to eat flesh. Barbara is somewhere in the middle where she is the strongest Cheetah when she wants to but her thirst for flesh grows in proportion to her strength and speed [hence accounting for her inconsistent power levels] but she is the smartest of the trio and Deborah is the weakest but still loyal Cheetah and whose mind was already broken before the ritual granted her caused her to succumb to flesh eating madness (every Cheetah who got one shot by Batman or someone else lower was actually Deborah). Her backstory is still similar to what she had in Pre-Crisis; friend of Diana and environmental activist and niece to Pricilla who was mentally tortured by Kobra into becoming a new Cheetah but the main addition is that at some point Barbara starts manipulating her and starts manipulating her. While chronologically, Deborah is the second Cheetah, in-universe, she would be the third Cheetah with Barbara as the second and Sebastian as the fourth. I hope that was clear.

Okay, now for the actual plot. Barbara draws Diana and Snapper Carr into a trap wherein they are ambushed by a souped up Deborah. Snapper is killed and Diana has to fight Deborah while protecting a group of innocent people, only to be attacked by a Pricilla who is also now an out of control Cheetah. Diana is forced to kill Deborah to protect lives and is subduing Pricilla when Barbara arrives with the DEO and lifts the curse on Pricilla, restoring her to her human form. Diana is arrested. Barbara is exonerated for her crimes by claiming that she was never evil, just driven mad by the curse of the Uzkartaga and all the 'bad' Cheetah that was pinned on her was actually done by Pricilla and Deborah. She also accuses (or rather frames) Wonder Woman for not trying to help her and claiming that Diana only used her as bait to make herself seem like a hero. She also planted evidence to support this and even uses the Maxwell Lord case as 'evidence' to portray Diana as a bloodthirsty warrior who is only out for the thrill of the hunt. Barbara walks out as a free woman while Diana is sentenced to prison alongside Pricilla. This does not sit well with the Wonder Family (Donna, Cassie, Artemis) who want o break her out but Diana refuses.

Barbara asks to be put under witness protection because she doesn't want to be 'hunted' down by the 'heroes'. The remaining Wonder Family wants to free Diana and they realize the only way to do that is by finding Barbara and figuring out what her plan is and to do that, they would have to team up Pricilla Rich (who is seething with anger over Barbara's betrayal) and possibly even fight against their friends and authority figures who think they are on the wrong side of the conflict. The Wonder Family go on a global tour trying to piece together Barbara's plan in a conflict that tests all their relationships.
