Default Catwoman: Lonely City by Cliff Chiang Announced

Four-Issue DC Black Label Series Debuts October 19, 2021

As both a writer and an artist, Cliff Chiang has left an indelible mark on the DC Universe, from his celebrated work with Brian Azzarello on Wonder Woman to Zatanna, Green Arrow and Black Canary, and Batman Black & White, among others. His next great DC series, Catwoman: Lonely City, arrives in comic book stores and on participating digital platforms on October 19, spotlighting Selina Kyle in a world with no Batman to protect it.

Ten years ago, the massacre known as Fools’ Night claimed the lives of Batman, The Joker, Nightwing, and Commissioner Gordon…and sent Selina Kyle, the Catwoman, to prison. A decade later, Gotham has grown up—it’s put away costumed heroism and villainy as childish things. The new Gotham is cleaner, safer…and a lot less free, under the watchful eye of Mayor Harvey Dent and his Batcops. It’s into this new city that Selina Kyle returns, a changed woman…with her mind on that one last big score: the secrets hidden inside the Batcave! She doesn’t need the money—she just needs to know…who is “Orpheus?”

Chiang writes, draws, colors, and letters each of the four 48-page, Prestige Plus format issues that make up this DC Black Label series; Catwoman: Lonely City is poised to be the kind of next-level storytelling that will change the way that fans see Gotham City, its heroes, and its villains forever.

Lovely art, but I'm not sure about the premise.

Is this Cliff Chiang's first writing credit? The art looks as gorgeous as ever .

Not crazy about the "casual" costume even for an older Selina, but it's nice seeing the B:TAS look.

So I take it Orpheus is the one that really killed everybody?

Harvey is mayor without fixing his face? Interesting.

A lot of dystopian Gotham style stories showing up lately, but I'm up for anything by Chiang.

Might be but he was an editor for a long time, different situation than most artists making their writing debut.

I like Selina's design. It's a nice mix of cozy and stylish. And seems like a cool approach to a matured Selina.

Can't say the premise excites me, but I enjoy Cliff Chiang's art. The way everyone is staring at her on the bus. Just great.

Was there a mention of the price?

I'm assuming since this is "48-page, Prestige Plus format" it's going to be AT LEAST $6.99 per an issue.

(Batman: Three Jokers from last year was that much per an issue.)

I kinda get, but casual costumes just don't really do it for me.

Nice! She looks good in the white streak.
She's been doing this for 30 years, arrested for 10, so... 50?

The plot sounds like just your normal "shocking set-up" for "strange alt future/out-of-continuity" "I can do what I want here" whatever storylines. But my interest in this is for the art. Any excuse to get Cliff Chiang doing four issues of Catwoman artwork seems worth looking at.
Retro315 no more. Anonymity is so 2005.
