When Diana referred to Chaos, did she mean Ares? The art was decent but not as good as Moore's.
Chaos is the creator of the cosmos, and the progenitor of Gaea in Greek Mythology. Basically, Chaos is the void in space.

As much as I dislike daddy Zeus, I did like that line of Diana being her own god with a destiny she will find herself. That was nice. Diana using that "Athena's wisdom" is always a plus in my book.

Way to take a piss poor concept that Snyder made for a single use storyline and turn it into something mysterious and fun. The Grave Yard of the Gods now has a Grounds Keeper and a stone carver, and the plain itself at first has a empty eerie presence that makes you feel alone. I look back at the final page of the last issue where its just the grounds keeper standing there. I'm still against the idea that the Greek Gods can even die, they are immortal and deathless, death isn't supposed to have a hold over them. But comics be comics.
I originally thought it was a kind of Neil Gaiman/American Gods-thing of it's where gods go once all their followers/belief finally dies out.

That seems to be the best explanation for it and that's how I view it too. Snyder just made it so Arthur and Diana can go and "get" Poseidon back, not much real thought after that. He even had some 3 headed Tiger Cerberus ripoff, maybe that's the GK's pet

Interesting that we are still getting Azello versions of some of the Gods. The mixture seems weird.

It will go away at some point. Hopefully, within the span of our lifetimes and humanity isn't wiped out by climate change.

Look at how fast they are undoing the damage Heroes In Crisis did to Wally West.

I've met people who aren't familiar with Wonder Woman mythology who watched the movie and thought it's depiction of Zeus didn't make sense and thought killing off the Gods was a waste. It's only Hollywood execs who think that people will buy into this idea of Zeus as this benevolent figure, most general audiences are aware that Zeus is basically the Harvey Weinstein of the Gods and mock attempts to recast him any other way. People will accept change if they think it's sensible or more emotionally affecting.

I doubt it. It's counter to everything Wonder Woman was created to be and too many of us hate it.

I think the better comparison is the Limbo dimension from Animal Man. Any of these gods can be brought back at any point, but only if desired.

Oh, thats' right. They explained that in this issue but apparently I forgot quite quickly. So just where was Ares anyways? Shouldn't he have been with the other Olympians when they returned?

Im guessing he just didn't participate. Wouldn't be the first time the Greek Pantheon died but Ares got away scott free because he was busy hanging out on his own mountain

Wasn't Ares off doing his own thing at the end of that arc by Wilson? He probably just wasn't there or didn't know the gods died (or didn't care, I mean, he didn't show up when his wife was butchered ).

I think he was referenced as being killed in the previous issue by Janus.

Though I thought this dude from that Tartarus page in the previous issue may have been him since it kind of looks like he looked in Wilson's run.

I think it is very likely that this team has a particular story in mind with Ares, because it is rare that in the resurrection of the Gods he does not have a more prominent presence.

I picked up my copy of the issue today.

Overall this two parter was a step down from the Asgard arc, but still good. And I liked this issue more than the last one. I liked seeing Diana resolve a conflict with her wits in a neat way with the Tolkein-ish riddles. And it was also cool seeing the Gods in their New 52 designs, before morphing into the Rebirth iterations, establishing that their appearances are fluid and allow for any previous or new design to be used. I didn't like that beyond Owl woman Athena making a brief cameo, Athena and Aphrodite didn't play any role in this. But of course Zeus did, though if we have to have it I like how it was executed here: he had faith in her, and she wasn't looking for anything from him and didn't need it.

Can't wait to see the elves/fairies. I hope Queen Moonbeam from the Golden Age makes an appearance!

I can’t believe they made me like an issue with Zeus. Ugh.

This was all about the “wisdom of Athena” coming through! Ha!

I don’t know much (nothing really) about Deadman, but he had some great dialogue. “Of course you made friends with everyone in Asgard. That’s what you do.”

I guess I’m in the minority who thinks this issue was better than last month’s.

“You see…the rest of them are soldiers. But [Wonder Woman] is an artist.”

I only support the made of clay origin.

DC is still allowing writers to tell stories where she is not the daughter of Zeus (Historia, as I understand it) so I wouldn’t be so certain.
