Paleontologically, yes. That's how alpacas, llamas, guanacos, and vicuñas reached South America before the camelids died out in the North.

And there was the United States Camel Corps, an experiment that lasted from 1855 to 1866 (although it was pretty much already dead before the end of the Civil War).
