Default Rumblers League Round 5: Darth Drizzle vs Jcogginsa: THE VOTE

    Link to the Match

    - You have 48 hours to vote (so there's no rush, take the opportunity to read the match and its discussion).
    - Please leave a valid reason why you have voted the way you did.
    - Non-leaguers may vote, but I MUST stress that random voting sullies the integrity of the entire league. If you are going to vote once, please do so regularly across the board.

Voting for my team as Legion thinking 1 move definitely beats Cyborg moving to Jean, then passing her an item, then having that item take effect, then Jean trying a move that no feats suggest that she can do all before the faster by feats Legion has a single thought.

Also breaking the Neck of a highly immortal person who can still think/move with said broken neck is a failure in itself and makes everything moot regardless.

Why do you keep ignoring that the Strat specifies that Jean is not waiting for Cyborg to do anything.

    Voting Jcog.

The argument for the Parademon hitting Barry didn’t hold up for me. Beyond that, Jean taking over QS seemed a good move.

Thoughts: The interpretation of the time stop and how going to another dimension interacts with the rules are key to this match. In the absence of a pre-existing hard written rule, I'll be using my own take on it, which is that a team whose members willingly left the arena is defeated at such time as they have no members left in the arena that are capable of fighting. This seems to be the fairest interpretation to me since it both allows for the use of dimensional tactics while still preventing a team from automatically losing because they lack dimensional travel capabilities, and I think it would be far too harsh to punish someone for not knowing a traditional unwritten rule. I strongly suggest we write down a hard rule on the matter before future matches.

I don't buy the idea of that Barry is slow to react (and I think Quicksilver is effectively taken out anyhow), but that's secondary.

I like the idea of a time stop for buffing the team rather than defeating the enemy. Jcogginsa predicting the time stop and acting accordingly is good. Unfortunately I do agree that his interruption attempt would fail; snapping even a regular Supernatural demon's neck won't kill them. With the neck snap failing I think that the time stop goes off before the Sling Ring portal can be closed.

I tend to judge potentially match-deciding kill attempts that fail to kill their target harshly, and Legion's immortality is right there to be read in his profile and in the linked wiki.

With that in mind, I think that Darth would succeed in empowering his team.

After that, I generally feel that Jcogginsa's strategy revolves a lot around a single point of failure, namely Ares, and repeated opening of Sling Ring portals. It's possible that one of the cross-dimensional attacks would work, but even setting aside the probability that his team members remaining in the arena would be taken out I think it would be silly to think that Darth's team won't wisen up to it after the first portal opens.

For these reasons, I'll cast my vote in favor of Darth Drizzle. Both teams have interesting strategies, but I think his holds up a better.

Just a note: I'm pretty sure I didn't have Quicksilver snap Legion's neck. I had him attack Legion with intent to stop him from getting off the time stop, and then snap his own neck right before the portal closes and cuts Jean off from him
