It means to expand the story beyond its original issue. MC2 started as just another What If...?, and then they expanded it. "Renew Your Vows" was also expanded beyond the 5 original issues.

Yeah but this is a post-apocalyptic world and Spidey is just part of it.And I'm not saying they can't come back in future extensions, but they shouldn't and won't in an AU before the event. As in Peter can retire, if they do attack he has friends and still knows how to defend himself

In a post-apocalyptic world, it would have sense they story continues to explain how the world is rebuilt.

Yeah, I meant we will deal with post-apocalyptic stuff in this mini, then maybe in future spin-offs.

Bleedingcool seems to think the new daughter is named May. Is this a reinterpretation of Mayday?

It is interesting that you have two AU stories back to back that have Peter and MJ together. Maybe the days of Moe, Larry, Curly and Shemp. Oops Quesada, Alonso, Wacker and Slott are over for good and the marriage can be restored in 616?

How many different names can Peter's AU daughter have?

the question you should ask is why so many daughters?
"He's pure power and doesn't even know it. He's the best of us."-Matt Murdock

"I need a reason to take the mask off."-Peter Parker

"My heart half-breaks at how easy it is to lie to him. It breaks all the way when he believes me without question." Felicia Hardy

Slott lamented that a lot of people didn't get that Annie was named after MJ's Aunt Anna on twitter recently.

MC2 Peter had a son down the line, though the most prominent A/U where Peter had a son was the Abrams mini, collected in TPB as Spider-Man: Bloodline. We all know how that went.

Peter had a son with Gwen in House of M. But they never really delved into the implications of Peter's HoM life. (Mostly because the Spider-Man books were doing their own thing. And the Spider-Man: HoM mini wasn't very good.)

Fair enough. And yeah, Mary Jane having a role in naming her and Peter's daughter was a good touch, I'll give him that much.

Same reason Superman has so many sons with Lois. Batman aside from Helena Wayne has sons like Damian or Terry.

Female legacies for male heroes are rare. Besides there are more girls than boys in America, so girls would be more common anyhow.

Wolverine, Green lantern, Spider-girl(the true legacy, that or miguel.Miles is an alt. uni brought to the 616),Hawkeye, Ironheart, Thor(Jane),Black Panther,Star Lord....
How are female legacy characters rare?

I do think Peter having Mayday should be the way to go always, she's like on of if not the best female character and the only one with 100+ solo issues.

At the time Spider-Girl appeared, in 1998, it was rare. The other examples (save X23 which came in the Xmen Evolution cartoon
In early 2000s) came in the last decade when having female representation became the big thing.

Before female legacies weren’t popular. Look at how Monica Rambeau the first female Captain Marvel was treated in the 80s when her creator Roger Stern was forced of The Avengers.

First female superhero to reach 100 issues in an ongoing. That’s a first so it’s forever. Also only one so far but I expect Captain Marvel to get there albeit with so many relaunches it gets confusing. I expect when they get to 100 cumulative issues over many volumes they will go to “original numbering”. As far as 616 goes, She-Hulk has the record, as of now, for longest serial ongoing during John Byrne’s original run.

Of course in the Pre-superhero days Marvel put out titles like Millie the Model which did reach 100 issues. That was a romance comic cantered on a female cast. Patsy Walker started out in one of those titles as a civilian before being incorporated as a superhero as Hellcat. But she didn’t sell as many issues as Hellcat.
