I agree. And I liked the reverse role of Rick (the eternal sidekick) actually being the experienced super-hero veteran of the duo. Never liked much the insane Captain Marvel of the second vol, though I'll admit it was an original take, and it did give us some quite interesting and unpredictable tales. One thinh I'll agree with the detractors is that PAD really didn't explore much of a rogues gallery for Genny.
From the get go I actually saw a way out for the death trap, it would, of course, involve merging again with Rick.
Actually, as a ship Captain, I think Monica is more deserving of the rank. Carol should never have accepted the demotion (really doesn't make sense for her character, but, hey, whatever pushes the agenda, right?) . If she wanted to go military, she should have been Col. Marvel, Or Commander Marvel.
Peace
Is the name "Marvel" taken? I mean, it comes with a lot of baggage being literally the name of the company, but it's a perfectly cromulent name... Would they ever do that with any character?
Or Genis could always go with "Starface."
I miss Ms. Marvel.

No worries, the costume returns in a future timeline. Meet Marvel Woman, born Marlene Brashear, likely daughter or granddaughter of the Blue Marvel. But like the Blue Marvel, we probably won't see much more of her anytime soon.
But maybe not. Maybe some writer will decide to bring Marvel Woman to the 616 and break up the disturbing monopoly of blond-haired, blue-eyed heavy hitters that Marvel has going (e.g., Sentry, Thor, Miracleman, Carol Danvers, Captain Britain/Avalon (Brian Braddock), etc.).
