From the Golden Age Firebrand (Rod Reilly) <orig. Quality Comics> Appreciation 2021 thread:

Roy Thomas wanted to bring back the golden-age Wild Fire...but DC objected because the LSH's Wildfire. DC thought we'd get confused.

So, Thomas created Danette and sidelined Rod Reilly.

first appearance of Danette: All-Star Squadron Preview in Justice League of America #193 (August 1981)


Danette becomes Firebrand in All-Star Squadron #5 (January 1982).

She was definitely a favorite of mine from the great All Star Squadron series. Great character with great powers.

One of my favorites from that era! I'm a sucker for a character with a cool visual, and a fiery one who isn't totally obscured by her flames (like the Human Torch over at Marvel) is a great one. (And it's a pleasant surprise how much better the male Firebrand's costume looked on her, with a few tweaks.)
