If it is indeed a race-bent Clark Kent rather than Calvin Ellis, same here.

All signs point to a race swapped Clark Kent, which is why my interest is kind of low (well that and the reviews I've seen around here on Coates comic book work). If it was Calvin my interest would shoot up greatly, but at this point I doubt it will be.

This i can get behind with. Not that awful racebending Clark Kent idea. But here, you still need Clark to die in order for this to work. Since Val is his succesor.

If anyone is going to make me care about Val, it's Michael B. Jordan. He's one of the most charismatic actors working today and I'm more excited for this currently than I am the other project.

Can you imagine if we were getting Clark on TV, Calvin with Abrams/Coates and Val with Michael B. Jordan?

Alas, we can't have all the nice things.

Guys help me out here... Calvin Ellis is black Kal-El isn't he? The only difference between he and Clark is where their ship landed.

Not true, his life follows a very different path. Also, he isn't an alternate version of Clark (from what I understand), rather he a different Kryptonian who is sent to Earth that being the only thing they share.

He’s Kal-El too (the name Calvin Ellis is a play on Kal-El).

    But he’s not Clark Kent.

He's president of his Earth's US, so when people say they want a Calvin Ellis movie is that what they're referring to?

Not necessarily - a Calvin Ellis movie could cover him earlier in his political career, or during the presidential race. But ideally yeah, he should become president at some point.

Oh no the differences are much more than that. I recommend checking out the recent Infinite Frontier Secret Files issue by Brandon Thomas, he does a great job showing the similarities between the two. Just as an example, Calvin is Raoist, he worships the Kryptonian god Rao.

This is yes - but there's also a black Clark film planned. A lot of us aren't enthused with that later one. But this one I'm excited for.
