Biker Mice From Mars (which could be done with practical make up)

A few anime series as well such as:

    Riding Bean

    Gunsmith Cats

Awesome! Since Anime can be included, my choice would definitely be both versions of...

    Bubblegum Crisis
    (バブルガムクライシス)

    Bubblegum Crisis Tokyo 2040
    (バブルガムクライシス TOKYO 2040)

That was another I almost listed. Cyber City Oedo would be another one. You could also do a legit Vampire Hunter D, too (surprised America never jumped on that).

Given the success of the Rurouni Kenshin films, why Japan hasn't done Ninja Scroll is beyond me.

I know, right?! The same could be said for...

    Samurai Champloo
    (サムライチャンプルー)

    Anne McCaffrey's Pern books.

Bad timing i guess. That stuff popularity was at its highest around the 80's i would say and remained strong till the 90's/00's. It's not the same now though.

That being said, i (selfishly) kinda like the fact that it remains a bit niche. It's known, but it's no lord of the rings you know.

Still, you can do one hell of a movie with that first novel. Very cinematic scenes. Straight forward, easy to understand, characters. Cool settings, dragons and even a little time travel for good measure.

    Ah well...

Edit : to illustrate how well known it used to be, you can find a couple of parodies of it in Pratchett's couple of first books from 83, 84 or something. Guess it must be all pretty confusing for the new young readers of today lol. Ah well, his few first books suck anyway imo.

    Man that’d kick ass.
Michael Keaton as old man Bruce is who everyone wants and I can’t say I disagree.

Folks mentioning Madman actually got me thinking...

Maybe the world is finally ready for an "X-Statix..." film?

He ain't a young Brenden Fraser no more.

There came a time when the Old Gods died! The Brave died with the Cunning! The Noble perished locked in battle with unleashed Evil! It was the last day for them! An ancient era was passing in fiery holocaust!

OMG! I'd be totally down for that (especially, if they did both versions):

I think it's a shame that with all the music biopics that have come out, there was never one of J. P. Richardson aka "The Big Bopper"

    https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Big_Bopper

But I guess he's not popular enough and they already had The Buddy Holly Story and La Bamba to tell you how they died
