Disney says it was ok for them to break contact. And yes they are using the virus as a excuse again. Good old chapek never changes. Says they payed her $20m as well so it's ok to break her contract.

Again, this is the exact reason that people would go to court.

It would be a settlement based on the contract. Which the woman has every right to go to court to attempt to enforce the details of.

That's another myth actually, just like the popcorn one with theaters.

“Taken to mean” is not a legal statement. If it’s not on paper, than she don’t have a case.
This is what she has on paper:

"We totally understand that Scarlett’s willingness to do the film and her whole deal is based on the premise that the film would be widely theatrically released like our other pictures. We understand that should the plan change, we would need to discuss this with you and come to an understanding as the deal is based on a series of (very large) box office bonuses."

"like our other pictures" is confirmation of theatrical exclusivity as all other MCU pictures to that point were theater exclusive. Hell, in the second sentence they even confirmed they would need to discuss with Scarlett if they wanted to change the release plan and then didn't give a **** when she reached out to them. I hope these scumbags will have to pay.

Tolstoy will live forever. Some people do. But that's not enough. It's not the length of a life that matters, just the depth of it. The chances we take. The paths we choose. How we go on when our hearts break. Hearts always break and so we bend with our hearts. And we sway. But in the end what matters is that we loved... and lived.

lol, that’s not a myth, unfortunately. Lawyers don’t care, they are going to get paid win or lose.

It is a myth that many people believe but it's a myth none the less, you should read up on it.

50% of all civil suits are contract disputes(with 75% of those being debt collection) so nothing ripe for frivolity there
29% are disputes between tenets and land lords...not frivolous
16% are small claims with cases concerning dollar amounts of 2,000 dollars or less...hmm nope those are normal too.

which leaves only 5% for tort cases which people often point to as frivolous but not only are these cases being frivolous a rarity as you can see they make up a only a tiny fraction of the total amount of cases so even if every tort case was frivolous it still wouldn't amount to much.

    Again, you're just wrong.

These guys really have no qualms whatsoever. Hopefully most people won't fall for such an obvious framing attempt.

First, where did you get these numbers.
Second, it doesn’t matter, because it’s not taking into account the thousands of frivolous cases that are thrown out.

    Google it.

It's common knowledge among anyone who's bothered to read even just a little bit about the subject that it's a myth. It's just a conservative talking point used to protect their big money corporate donors from justice.

    It does.

It's a myth used to make people think that protecting large corporations is a good thing.

Again, you're just wrong man and that's okay lot's of people believe the myth...but when it's pointed out to you the best move is to get educated and then admit your fault.

    Disney Strikes Back:

The Walt Disney Co. has fired back at Scarlet Johansson’s lawsuit over the release of Black Widow, in a biting statement in which it said that the litigation showed a “callous disregard” to the Covid-19 pandemic and even revealed that she has so far received $20 million from the project.

A Disney spokesperson said, “There is no merit whatsoever to this filing. The lawsuit is especially sad and distressing in its callous disregard for the horrific and prolonged global effects of the Covid-19 pandemic. Disney has fully complied with Ms. Johansson’s contract and furthermore, the release of Black Widow on Disney+ with Premier Access has significantly enhanced her ability to earn additional compensation on top of the $20M she has received to date.”

Wonder if this will cancel the Tower of Terror film Scarlet was planning to do with them?
